Default Hi All

Hey All,
I'm Dallas, I'm 18 and I live in Provo UT where I work changing oil. I was lucky enough to pick up my first Monte Carlo last week. It's a 2001 SS with a 3.8 Liter V6. I've been really pleased with the car so far. I've had to replace a few things (Radiator, Coolant Elbows, Brake Booster Check Valve, Top Motor Mounts) But I got it for a steal so I'm okay with it. Are these pretty common issues? I've read a little bit about the coolant elbows but not sure about the other parts. At this point I'm $4500 into the car, I'm thinking that's not bad at all. Anyways, Just thought I'd introduce myself and ask that quick question.

Welcome to the forum! I had to change a couple coolant hoses but I'm not sure about the other issues. I'm sure someone on here can answer your questions!

Welcome! Yeah, how many miles are on the car? I rolled 150k on my 03 Monte SS before it was totaled and never touched anything you mentioned.

to the forum!

Great car you scored there . The coolant system can be a problem if the original owner didn't take care of the car. Most see that Dexcool is fine for 5 years 150k and just never even open the radiator cap to look at it. This can cause problems in the future, but just keep an eye on it, flush it every 2-3 years and you'll have no more cooling issues

The car is at 92K miles at the moment which is why it was kind of surprising to me that it would have such a problem. There was a good sized crack in the radiator near the bottom and it was just pouring coolant. Seems like the last owner was good on oil changes but failed to really do any other routine services (Transmission fluid was really bad, after a flush it was good as new)

Oh and as far as options go it's got, Leather, Power Sun Roof, Premium Alloy Wheels, CD and Tape player, Dual Power Heated Seats, On Star and probably more that I'm forgetting I think it basically has every option they could choose from.
