Cool Hey Yo! New from Ohio...

Whats up everyone! I'm Steve, I live on the westside of Columbus. I drive a '98 Z28 6-speed w/ bolt-ons, and also have a '92 Camaro RS 305 which is serving as my daily right now. Here's my Z28...

Here's my old GTP that I no longer own unfortunately...

Anyway, I'm driving my project '92 Camaro right now every day in the winter, and at some point this year I am definitely looking to buy a more practical daily. I have highly considered getting a Blazer Xtreme, but I have also thought about getting another Grand Prix or possibly a Monte Carlo SS. I'm very familiar with the L67 from my GTP days and I know how to make these cars go fast, but as far as the Montes are concerned, I really don't know anything about their appearence aftermarket or factory options or special packages and whatnot.

So, thats why I'm here, to get a little more knowledge. I don't own a Monte Carlo but I still want to introduce myself and contribute to the forum. Glad to be here

Welcome to the forum! Nice Z28 you have there!

If you are looking for an L67 Monte Carlo, then you want an 04 or 05 SS. In 04 only some of the SS's were supercharged, in 05, ALL of the SS's were supercharged.

If you go for an 06-07 SS, you will get the LS4 5.3L V8

Thanks! You mean the pre-'04 wasn't supercharged? Wow, I didn't know that, I figured the '01-'03 had blowers too, but apparently not haha. Yeah I would love to have an LS4 Monte but I'm sure those would be way out of my price range.

Well if you ever wanted to build a high compression build, the 00-03/04 SS could help you with that :P

Everything you know about your Grand Prix will carry over.

There are lots of parts that interchange. Even noticed when changing my cabin air filter, that when I removed the Cowl and looked at the bottom, it had Grand Prix stamped on it.

Yea, none of us can figure out where in heck the heads at GM were when they made that decision (other than the fact that they were at the other end of their body shoved up somewhere...LMAO) Why would like every other car in the GM line up that was similar to the Monte/ Impala get the L67 option, but they left out the Monte/ Impala

One will never know, but thats how the cookie crumbled. LOL.

Like Mike (Chibiblacksheep) said, if you got an 00-04 NA 3800, you could always make it a mod car, and do a top swap if you want the supercharger. But if you want the stock L67 engine, you are stuck trying to find an 04 SS S/C, or just buying an 05 SS.
