Welcome! As SpaceKid suggested, use the search feature. There is a TON of great info within the pages of the forum. I'm new here myself, and all my questions have been answered by searching and reading. I'm sure sooner or later I'll have a question I can't find an answer for, but so far the topics have been covered.

Cool you own a Monte SS, post a few pics and let us see this Bad Girl!
I agree with 03SSLE, this is a great forum to belong to and many answers are readily available. Please don't hesitate to ask questions as you will find the other Monte owners eager to help or critque you and your build.
As far as things to know, I would check if available when the last transmission maintenance was performed, and if you cant find out check the tranny fluid level, feel and smell it. If it appears to feel broken down and burnt smelling I would take the car in and have the filter and tranny fluid replaced. Just so you can have that peace of mind knowing the tranny fluid and filter are doing their job. This particular tranny being a somewhat weak point needs to be maintained to insure trouble free operation. Run a good injector cleaner like "Lucas" through the gas tank to clean the fuel system, just so you know the system is clean. How many miles on the engine, the plugs are usually good for 50,000 miles or so, might not hurt to pull one of the front ones and look it over, might give you a good idea as to the general health of you other plugs and motor in general. The plug tip's color can tell you if your motor is operating in good condition or if there are potential problems arising. Look at the below link to help diagnose what your spark plugs is saying about your engines condition.
