Default Hello from San Diego, CA

Hello everyone, my name is John and I am the new proud owner of a 1984 Monte Carlo.

I've looked around on this fine forum for awhile and know it's full of some very awesome and knowledgeable people, who love these great cars. Now I am not the most mechanically inclined person, I can tell you about most any car out there, but when it comes to working on them I can only sit back and scratch my head :P I hope this car changes that because I really want to work on this car. It is packing a Buick V6 and wanted to know what I can do, is their any performance mods, I have heard somewhere that these engines are very similar to the turbo'ed V6 in the GN or if I should swap the engine and how hard would it to swap a H.O 305 SS or SBC 350 engine into my Monte, from previous posts I have only read that you have to move the motor mounts, that the fuel lines have to be switched to the opposite side and that is it, like I stated before I am not the most mechanically inclined person and details are much obliged. I also want to give my MC the SS facelift and if any one can point me in the right direction here again much appreciated. I plan on keeping this car forever

The Bad
- Buick V6
- Pretty beat up, has some rust, one small hole in door jam
- Needs paint, but I plan to just primer it black when I get the body straightened out
- When turned all the way to the left or right I hear a loud squealing, heard it was the PS pulley or pump

Enough talk onto the pictures!

I got a little camera happy with my cellphone

Sorry for my huge post, just excited to have a place to talk about my Monte!

Welcome to the forum! Another person from CA! :P I'm up north in San Jose!

That looks like a pretty clean Monte you got for being 26 years old!

Thanks for the pics.

This one kinda worries me though. Any plans to maybe cut out the rotted section, and weld in a new piece of metal?
