Hello From Monterey
Hi, its Barovelli out in Monterey California, home of Laguna Seca, Cannery Row and me!
While searching for a car with comfort & soul, I became attracted to the Monte Carlo. Nothing special at first, but am liking every new day with this car. It's a 2006 LT with just about every imaginable doo dad available.
As with other used cars I've bought, I turn to enthusiast sites on the web to gain and share knowledge. Excuse me while I seek out the answers to:
Why wont the CD changer load?
Where to get a remote clicker, it came without.
Will the remote clicker solve the goofy door lock behavior - shut door and get 3 beeps and it unlocks itself. Also the chime goes off when the door is open and there's no key in the lock?
What aftermarket muffler sounds good on a 3.5?
Why no stylish Monte Carlo logos to be found on it?

Here's the Firebird. Now that I have a nice comfortable Monte, my son drives the Firebird. I can recommend www.firebirdnation.com as a great forum for Firebird owners.
I've worked in Cable TV for 30+ years, many titles from technician to supervisor & manager. The changes keep the job fresh. Some changes are not so cool, like not having a company car anymore. So I searched for a commuter - which led me to the Monte.
Cosmetic plans are to fix a few of it's previous owners dents & scratches, replace the rear bumper that was torn by the plate and try to give it a subtle difference so it does not look like a rental car. Tempted to change the block letters on the trunk lid to the previous generation stylish script. Same for the interior - I always associated non-SS Montes with some wood burl in the cabin. Mine looks well OK, but gee - there are no hints anywhere that you are riding in a classic American coupe called "Monte Carlo".
Mechanical plans are to eek out some more fuel economy. My commute can be up to 900 miles a week, so keeping it tuned and giving it some breathing room are in the plan.
Gawd I love the sunroof.

Thanks for all the welcomes.
Douche Day. One pass with a soak-n-suck, touch ups with an Oxy-Clean pen and a once over with Blue Coral upholstery cleaner and the inside now looks presentable. Last owner had a baby seat in the right rear and you could tell.
Add to the shopping list - two seatback release *****. One totally missing, other cracked and found rolling around.
Went searching trying to decode the service parts ID numbers and found this site:
http://www.compnine.com/vid.php
It gave up volumes of information. Guess what? I have remote start...
