Hello from GA...and a quick question...
Hello All,
My addiction to the Monte Carlo began 10 years ago when my ex-brother in law had a '85 Monte SS, T-tops with a 350 I believe? It had never saw a winter and looked great! Once I drove it, I HAD to have one! Driving it in the local classics parade that summer was awesome!
I am the proud owner of a 2001 Monte LS. Of which I bought 5 years ago. I REALLY REALLY wanted an SS but couldnt afford the model at the time, so I ended up with a LS instead. I purchased my Monte with 30K on it, in Michigan, it was fresh off a lease out of southern Wisconsin. It now has 121K on it and has been the best car I have ever owned.
Regular oil changes are done on it, and I have only had to do normal routine maintenance on it in 5 years.
(Battery, brakes, tires, radiator flush, and drivers side power window switch 2x...)
Now that my Monte is paid off....(and yes I am in search of another...if I can fight my wife hard enough to win to get another coupe having 2 children LOL) ....it needs a bit of repair. I swear its programmed in the computer LOL. I have a wheel bearing/hub gone bad, and first off I have no clue how to tell what side it is that is shot, other than it being in the front end. One day it started to sound like an airplane.
It also needs an O2 Sensor. I am not a mechanic at all. Friends have told me to put nothing but AC Delco O2 Sensor in the Monte, others say it doesnt matter.....
What are y'all thoughts on the O2 Sensor?? And WHERE is it, other than in the exhaust?? Advanced Auto said it was Bank 1 Sensor 1.
Thanks much for your input.

1st off, hello, and welcome to the MCF family! Glad you like your Monte as much as the rest of us do Chevy did do SOMETHING right! Got any pic's of her????
The hub, put her up on jack stands. Won't take long to tell which one is bad. Not an unusual problem I replaced both on my '01 SS. Hammered railroad tracks too hard and paid for it. Babyed this car, and so far, it's paid off.
The O2 sensor, just make sure it's the same manufacturer as original. Not sure if it's a Bosch or not. Go to NAPA and get it, and it'll be right. And I think there is only 1 sensor, just behind the cat'.
