No pics yet 03jg....probably be a couple weeks before the purchase and i bring one of these fine machines home. Leaning back to the jg edition. Red brought up a good point of not knowing exactly what was done to the other engine. Could be more headaches and money then i want to invest. Other then the paint not matching and the flames being gone, the jg edition is sweet. Figure some paint and maybe the checkered flag decals instead of the flames, then start looking at where i am then.

If I were you I would just try to restore the flames. Its what makes the Gordon Monte unique.

Cost alot to do flames $3000 for decals or $2000 for a shop to do em, the JG is deff the better deal, never know what all was done to the motor of the 01 & body work on a car is nothing aslong as it drives straight & runs itll be good to go mine was wrecked when i got it & i fixed it up

Welcome to the forum, and I would go with the jeff gordon as well, it being less miles. Good luck with your decision though, looking forward to seeing pictures.

OK, folks....here I am back again for more advice. I have found another Monte, a genuine 02 Dale Earnhardt edition. I am still considering the Jeff Gordon edition also. So here is where I need the advice. The Gordon one needs some work (paint, decals, foglamps are what I can tell right now). The Dale edition needs nothing but a driver to enjoy it. They are comparably priced, and about the same distance from me. Here is the dilemma: Gordon edition has 62k miles. Dale edition has 134k. I am asking for advice on how good are these 3.8L engines, and how many miles one can expect out of them with regular maintainence. This vehicle will be a daily driver for me, and with 150 mile per day commute, i need something that will not let me down. Advice welcome, as well as opinions. Thanks Monte fans!
