Thumbs up glad to be here

Its a pleasure to meet you all here on this forum. I don't own a monte, yet. I've been driving Corvettes for 16 years and am leaning toward the 7th gen as a daily driver now. I think it would be an awesome family car as becoming a family man is a goal reaching near.

I am looking into 2006 & 2007 SS models. I think for my purpose it may be easier to trick out. I like that it already has the v8. Just because its a family coupe doesnt mean it shouldnt haul @$$ when i am driving solo. I am in the planning stage right now. If I organize my idea with what is actually feasible it will make the project a smooth transition from C5 to NASCAR inspired Monte.

On my to do list for car: install a hot cam, a turbo, tune engine for performance. Gas milege is not a concern. Never has been and likely never will be. Put on beefier sway bars, coil overs, upgrade to wilwood brakes with drilled slotted rotars, aero nascar rims, and a few small goodies like a grant steering wheel, slp loudmoth exhaust system or billy boats if compatible.

Where my difficult lies is in the tranny. I am thinking clutchless 4 speed jerico. What's
good for nascar must be good for John-Q-Public ? However, I do love to hear that m22
muncie whine. If I could get a clutchless m22 I will go for that. What do I do about the rear end? It seems from this point converting the monte to a rwd is possible. How does one go about it from this stage? I read the forums for 3 weeks before joining tonight and still am a bit fuzzy. It breaks my heart that this awesome upgraded machine would be fwd. I have to cure it from that ailment. Always game for advice. Even better yet, if you live in the SF BAY AREA in California and want the work, shoot me your email/cell#.

This may be a crazy idea but I have an old c4 corvette on PNO, why not use the chassis. How does one get the monte body onto the 84 vette? Questions, comments and humorous anecdotes welcome.

Looking toward your pearls of wisdom,
RH6X3

Welcome!

The RWD conversion is not using a chasis from another car. They are a unibody, so you can't just move stuff over. It's a full custom fabrication and an extremely difficult task.

Since this is a Daily Driver, I would just power up what you have and enjoy it.

Also, you don't NEED the v8 to get a good amount of power. You could also broaden your look for the 04 and 05 SS with the Supercharged L67 and then you'll have the very strong 3800 that can take boost and get a good amount of power down. Also it has a huge aftermarket.

For your transmission, you have the 4t65e-hd, if you want that thing built, you should look here: tripleedgeperformance.com

Welcome to the Forum! If you want to send your Monte over a couple of states to Utah, the shop that built mine could really hook yours up to. They are just finishing a 817 FWHP TurboCharged 07 Monte Carlo shipped here from Michigan. They TurboCharged mine as well, they can totally make your Monte's transmission bulletproof.....
