If you don't have a code scanner take the car to Autozone, O'Reilly, etc and have the code(s) read. If the code P0641 is present (a common occurrence) it indicates improper engine sensor reference voltage from the ECM. Hopefully a secondary code will be present indicating the effected sensor because the ECM supplies reference voltage (5v) to several different sensors. If no code points to a suspect sensor some of the common problem areas are the connectors for the fuel rail pressure sensor, the throttle position sensor and the oil pressure sensor. Some people have solved the problem by cleaning those connectors. Otherwise, it could be any of those or a different sensor that sources reference voltage from the ECM, or the ECM itself. Further diagnostics will be required to narrow down and pinpoint the problem.

I am getting p0120 p0121 and p2135 which all are pointing toward the throttle body. New there 319 and i bought one used off ebay which when i did install it his did do dif symptoms like car shutting down and i had no pedal response to the motor or i had limited rpms and my original throttle body when i take off from dead stop it doesnt engage to first gear and as im trying to give more gas it slams into gear and goes both of the throttle bodys do that slip sometimes so my originL one also shows engjne reduced power and starts missing out and sometimes when i get out with it running for a bit come back and get in and try to start it and in the message center says.. SERVICE THROTTLE BODY ENGINE STARTING DISABLED. I go unplug throttle body wait 30 seconds with key out plug back in it starts and runs fine

I think those codes are TPS related. The TPS is one of the sensors that sources its 5v reference from the ECM. Since your problem is intermittent it's quite possible a bad connection somewhere is creating the problem. I would suggest checking the connections to the sensors mentioned in my previous post before suspecting a component failure. There is also the possibility that the throttle body or tps you installed may be malfunctioning, but I would check connections first. Whenever replacing sensors on these cars it's a good idea to use either AC Delco or Delphi. Other brands have been known to be outside OE parameters and often times offer a short service life.

i purchased the car and it looks like someone put a new pigtail wire connector to the throttle body. Which i believe somebody already tried to fix the issue before and maybe they didnt want to pay the $319 for a new one but im thinking now i should. I have ran an ohm meter to test current and continuity from wire inside insulation to the outside pigtail and i have good connections on all 8 wires. So i have a new pedAL sensor also andwhen it does throw the engine reduced power i wiggle the connection on throttle and pedal and it doesnt throw any codes so your saying possible ecm but i dont understand why its fine 3 days then 4th day it shuts down then fine 5th and 6th day it limits power from full throttle to 10% where if i hit the gas pedal to floor it slowly revs up

I have also found on here a battery has fixed these issues. alot of people have this same issue " engine reduced power" and some change pedal sensor some change throttle body some change battery and some change hub bearings. I know what a bearing sounds like when bad and what i dont understand when ignition on and not running i unplug pedal sensor or thottle body it trips the codes and shows up service traction control light and engine reduced power message and check engine light? im lost but dont want to pay a fortune and play guessing games!

Yes, it's possible the ECM is at fault, but I would check ALL the sensor connections that source their 5v reference signal from the ECM first. A loose/dirty connection will cause an intermittent problem such as you are experiencing. After my last post I did a quick search online and there is a thread on another forum where a guy was having the same problem. After replacing the throttle body he still had the same problem. Further investigation uncovered a loose/dirty connection on the oil pressure sensor. After cleaning and reinstalling the sensor connector the 'Engine Reduced Power', CEL and Traction Control lights all went out and the vehicle now operates as it should. If checking/cleaning the sensor connectors doesn't resolve your problem then I would suspect either the throttle body or TPS that you installed - especially if they aren't AC Delco or Delphi.

okay so im back and i have tested the voltage to the throttle body when car trips the codes. I do understand completely what ur telling me and im getting correct pieces to the puzzle. Like yesterday i went to auto zone and they told me the codes PowerTrain control module i forgot the code and pedal position sensor circuit a high output and pedal sensor circuit b low input throttle actuator malfuction and throttle actuator curcuit a low input. My question is if it is the PCM can i get it tested or take apart and look for burnt diods or burnt salter points or would i have to take it in to dealer. What is the best solution u have for me? id hate to get a diagnostic from dealer if i can pinpoint it myself thanks in reply

Did you ever get your problem fixed? I am going thru the same scenario right now myself !
