gas smell and aceleration problem

Default gas smell and aceleration problem

My monte carlo doesnt accelerate very well. And theres a strong smell of gas coming from the tail pipe.

Sounds like there is going to be a slew of issues with the car. Since you smell gas, there's something causing the car to run rich.

What year and engine do you have?

Hopefully it's simple like a fuel-pressure regulator.

But talking about poor acceleration could mean that running rich for a long-time has clogged your catalytic.

its a 05 3.4 liter

I agree with Chibi on the FP regulator and converter. I might also add O2 sensor(s), and plugs and wires causing a misfire. Get checked for codes. A clogged cat. won't show up on codes, but a misfire code could be an indicator.
