first things first, have you checked your fuel pressure to see if it is where it needs to be? if not, you could have a leak somewhere in you lines, or one of your fuel components have gone bad. i had something similar happen, and it was the fuel pressure regulator..

Your resonator ONLY mufflers the drone from your exhaust system, has nothing to do with gas consumption.

Fuel filter could need to be changed, your injectors could be clogging, were both oxygen sensors changed or just the rear one near the cat?? Air filter could be dirty.

Default Resonator

Slightly off the subject: if I remove the resonator from my '07 LT, would the exhaust sound a whole lot louder or just a little? I'm trying to find out how to boost the sound SLIGHTLY - I don't want to disturb the neighbors, and I'm not looking for a motorcycle-like rumble. Any suggestions? Thanks for any advice...

Just swap the mufflers to change the sound slightly. The resonator delete will increase the nasty drone inside your cabin.

You said you already changed the cat, so it wouldn't be hurting you.
