[QUOTE=20MCSS05;735988]Aloha, and Howsit. New guy here from the Big Island. Restoring a 2005 SS Tony Stewart Edition. I was defeated by an aftermarket stereo head unit, so here I am lol
Welcome and good luck in your restoration.
The Tony cars are really nice
, my son got his Autograph at a Race one time.
I read stories all the time about the WANT of the car owner to upgrade a stereo system in the car, and then having a bunch of issues later.
This is just the nature of the Drivers of cars that goes back to the 50's.
Back in the day they even made a Record Player for the Automobile. Then as we move on thru the time tunnel there was the 4-Track and 8-track stereos. I had an 8 track in my 63 Impala and also 69 Chevelle. Then in 72 I ordered a new Chevelle and got a factory indash 8-track tape player with the AM/FM radio, not much for FM stations back then. It was rare also for someone to have an amplifier in the car. But the units back then would power a bunch of speakers too.
However today Chevrolet runs all the stuff thru the radios and in my 2020 Blazer there isn't even a CD player option.
I know that folks run it thru there phones however I am not to savvy doing that trick.
But now I have seen an aftermarket unit. So I may need to try that.
So as you may have figured out I got a few years on the clock, so so good!
If you can reinstall the factory radio you may be able to get some of the issues taken care of.
