I'm a lurker, except for the sites I do run i rarely signup. Figured I'd bite the bullet.

I own a 78 Monte 100% bone stock in Montreal, Canada.

I'm in the market for a bigger engine, I've got a rebuilt 350 I'm looking at and a 454 a friend owns. Maybe I'll keep it stock and just cruise around, but I just bought some really nice rims (front 15x8 keystone, rear 15x11 cragar SS) and I don't think my 305 provides enough torque to turn those yeah, the rims stick out the side of my car an inch, but I love that look :p

Before I pt that work into the engine, I have to finish up all the bodywork. there is some SEVER rust on it, one of my quarters is rusted on te lip so much I have to cut it out and rebuild it.

anyways, anone else here got a pre-87 Monte?

yeah she's tired. It's got 78 000 registered KM on it (48 466.953 miles) I've ripped off the landau top and ground down all the rust pits, I've cut out most of the rotting metal (except that quarter i mentioned) i've noticed a notch in the frame that's started to rot so I'll have to get that welded.

I really wanted to drive it at least a weekend this year but it looks like she's gonna stay indors for this next winter too

Welcome to the forum man. You have a great looking 3rd Gen there. I would say if you wan to make it an easy install, drop in the 350. If you want to make the tires beg for mercy, then go BB.

Welcome to the forum!

I think the Cragars will look great on your car. The 15" rims will be a perfect size.

I love this ride, but after 3 years, it's really started to rust. I think the previous owner patched it up. It will take a lot of work to get it in good shape, although the motor runs PERFECTLY, the body is falling apart.

thanks, but I think the tire is too big for my car. 15" is perfect for this car but the rears are 15x11.

I'll have to go with a minimum tiresize of 295/50/r15 or 325/50/r15 and theres a good chance those will rub so I will either have to cut out the wheelwels or raise the back.
