Exhaust replacement
Does anybody know where I can get my 2 mufflers replaced for my 2006 Monte Carlo SS? The dealer said the cost would be around $1500.00 not including tax or labor. I live in Schaumburg, IL (just outside of Chicago), and I don't want to go to just any rinky dink shop. I want performance parts like what the car originally came with. Any suggestions? And I would need to have them installed.

Good grief!!!!! I put a pair of Flowmaster 40s on my '07 SS a year ago at a muffler shop for $200. They just happened to be on sale when I walked in, so it saved me about $50..... I'd like to get a little bit louder set, but I guess I won't be buying them at a dealership in Schaumburg!.....lol

This shop has great YELP reviews in your area, perhaps give them a call. $1500 is WAAAY to much...

Response to exhaust for 2006 monte ss
Thanks chifan and Zippy02. I'll have to check it out. Are these performance parts like what was originally on the car? I know they're not GM parts, but I want the car to perform like it originally did.

I'm from Wauconda, IL. I am getting an X-Pipe installed (for my Mustang) at a shop in Richmond, IL called Twisted Pipes. Don't know if that's too far north for you but I heard good things about this shop. Changing the mufflers aren't really going to add any "performance" to your Monte. The only thing that it might do is change the sound of the exhaust and maybe some weight reduction.

Hi AwesomeSS, Thanks for the heads up on Twisted Pipes. Spoke to Mike there and he was able to provide info on Magnaflow exhaust which would be an ideal fit for my '06 Monte SS. It isn't cheap, but it's less than the dealership price and it has a lifetime warranty. Also made of stainless steel.
