Default Which Cold Air Intake is Best?

Hi everyone... I am new to this so forgive my ignorance. I would like to get a cold air intake for my 2000 monte carlo ss. I read some of the postings and I know that K&N makes a good one, but how do I make sure the air is collected from the outside (cold air) and not from within the engine (hot air)?

Your help is greatly apreciated!

Silver 2000 Monte Carlo SS
17X8 Mag wheels with 255/45ZR17 Falken ZIEX tires
The rest is just pure stock (not for long...)

Hi guys... Thank you for the info.

By the way... DESS03, congrats on the winning, your Monty looks prety good. You are setting new standards. Keep it up and congrats again.

Wiz kidd - did you have any problems with the check engine light when you did your K&N? That's the one that I was going to purchase today on line. Do I need anything else? Gutting the air box is not a bad idea... I might be able to work with both.

i have the check engine light on already from the exhaust that i did, but i dont think that the cold air intake would have set the check engine light off. its definetely worth the investment
