Born to drive a Monte Carlo
Hello fellow MC enthusiasts/owners.
I recently joined and have already posted about some tranny issues so big thanks to everyone helping with that.
My first Monte was a black 97 Z34 with the red stripe, that I had for almost two years. Bought it from my neighbors with a bad transmission for $10. Got it fixed and put 60,000 miles on it. Got myself an adult job and traded the Z34 toward a 2007 SS. Greatest decision I ever made (despite some new trans issues).
I've been referencing threads on this site (as well as GP forum) for the last 6 months or so which lead me to get brave enough to pull the transmission and rebuild it on my kitchen counter.
I live and grew up in Michigan, north of Grand Rapids (Beer City USA);
I'm a professional chef, a semi professional mechanic, and a huge fan of the Monte Carlo. I'm half positive I was born into it since my moms first car at 16 was a 1971 MC - 4 bbl 454 V8 (which is B.A. but hilarious because she's so tiny) which must mean I was meant to end up in 7th Gen SS. Just wish she still had it so we could line them up side by side and see who wins...
But I digress for now, I look forward to getting to know you all.
