battery light/security light
PLEASE HELP!!! car cranks no start |
good chance the key cylinder is the culprit. it has a chip on it for the security system VAT , common failure in these cars.
how can i tell if its bad
outside of swapping it for a new one, idk personally except ruling out other possibilities. its easy to change out tho and a common failure point.... I hate to throw parts at an issue myself but sometimes its all you can do unless you have some help. a strong fully charged battery is essential .
if you've had intermittent no start issues in the past then that's also very strong indicator that the ignition key cyl is at fault. |
im also not getting no spark, and can a bad bcm be the cause? i change crank sensor, cam sensor, new plugs and wires,
i cleaned all the grounds. i think its going to be the bcm
This six generation monte Carlo's do not have a chip key I have a 2001 SS model it's a regular key. There could be a problem with The ignition switch I had a similar problem that turned out to be the ignition switch then it was the alternator that's why the battery light was coming on
Also I just replayed your video you said it will crank but not start correct ? Do you hear the fuel pump primed when you turn the car to the on position
