It is suggested that new members post something about themselves.
My name is John and I am 68. I am reviving my late son's 2001 Monte Carlo SS. He died 3 1/2 years ago of a drug overdose and the car hasn't been touched since then till this past week. Amazingly after charging the battery it started right up and even drove on the old gas that was in the tank.
There are some things that need to be done to the car to get it in first class condition so I have joined the forum so I can ask questions of knowledgeable people.

I was sorry to read about the death of your son
Sadly, you are not alone I pray/hope that our government can find a way to end this epidemic to our society.
I hope that your son's Monte can bring or keep the good memories of your son. It's amazing that it started right `up and ran on old gas.
I hope that our member's can assist in the problems that you encounter with your Monte.
I also hope that your post reminds or brings attention to this major problem in our country/world.
Wish you good luck and acceptance of events that you have no control over.

On December 18, this report was posted as an MMWR Early Release on the MMWR website (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) | MMWR).
The United States is experiencing an epidemic of drug overdose (poisoning) deaths. Since 2000, the rate of deaths from drug overdoses has increased 137%, including a 200% increase in the rate of overdose deaths involving opioids (opioid pain relievers and heroin)
