Default Another Newbie here

Hello fellow MC owners,

First time owner 03 MC SS NA 123000 miles.

Just picked up on the cheap.
Minor body scratches, interior not bad, black on black.

Had all fluids changed.

Was running bad, couldnt floor it. Turned out to be catalytic converter $600 for parts and labor. But now she runs tops.

I am missing the the ignition cylinder, the part that says, park, Acc etc. Anyone know where I can get just that part or do I have to purchase an entire ignition assembly?

Also anything to look for on this year model?

Thanks all.

Kevin

Welcome, congrats on the buy and fix.

That piece is nothing more than just a plastic label, can be pulled out of a junked Monte.
I know mine has fallen off, and it just simply glued it back on. :P

You're in NY? There's a cool looking Monte Carlo club based in New York, you should look into them, seem like a nice bunch. Few members on here are part of that club.

Welcome.
ISS may act up (clunk/thunk heard/felt in steering wheel and brake pedal), if so, just do this http://www.naioa.com/v2/modules.php?...wtopic&t=10805

Oh, and the PITA Passlock issue. If it decides one day not to start and the "security" light is flashing on the dash, turn the key to "on" leave for at least TEN minutes, it should stop flashing "security, security, and I think security once more then battery" and change to "security, battery, security, battery" turn it off and then try to start. It SHOULD start then but evenually it'll get worse and your passlock/ignition will need to be changed. When you change it be sure to have the ignition keyed to YOUR keys or you'll need two sets (ignition and doors/trunk). It cost me about $300 to get fixed by an individual mechanic I've heard the dealers charge $300-$600 and most times try to pass it off as the BCM first.

Engine would not rev up past 3500 rpm, start to miss, like you reached the rev limiter.

Replaced the fuel filter and the cat.

Fuel pump is probably the next item to replace as the fuel filter was all gunked up and the fuel guage always reads full but only when in drive and moving. If stopped and in park it will show true indication. Mech says its the fuel pump.

Then new rotors and shoes, some slightly louder easier breathing mufflers, ZZP Airaid mod, 8.5mm wires. Probably shouold change out water pump as well just to make sure.

Does anyone have a pic of the key cyclinder? It seems like that part is more then just a stick-on item. I have the rubber piece but it seems like there is something else missing as there is a bit of a gap in there.

Thanks for responding.

Thanks for the reply.

Will print this and keep in glove box for future reference when needed.
