81 mc
hey everyone, always wanted a mc, deployed at the moment so i figured id spend the money and get one, its an 81, got the ss bumper and spoiler, no motor or trans, gonna build me a 383 when i get home, it has exhause for full length headers so i was wondering if any full length will fit, also what tranny should i use and what should my torque converter stall be at or reccomended at by the pros? it has a built rear end in it with 3 73 gears so lookin for the right combination here, any help will be much appreciated.

well you have alof questions to ancer there, i'll do my best to keep them in order with your post, bear with me i'm posting from my phone
First welcom to the forum
headers, basicially any g-body full length headers will do, some will just be better built than others, different size primary tubes and collector size, i honestly do not have a sugestion for that becuase i don't have any picked out yet,
Trans, it kind of depends on what you plan on doing with it
maily cruis/ some strip = built 700r4 so you have over drive while cruisin for better MPG
mainly strip/some cruise = built th350
strickly stirp = power glide
or the best of all worlds= T56 Manual swap! manual no need for stall, 6 gears for cruisin and you can bang gears! but not as consistant on the track
Stall, it really depends on when your motor is done and where your cam's rpm range is

lol it seems everone is trying to get me to go over to that 6 speed, i think the 700r4 is gonna be the best bet cause i want to run at the strip every once and a while, i have never uses a 700r4, is the 350t shorter? im a motor guy not a tranny guy lol

i want to say yes the th350 is shorter but i can not say i am 100% sure! just think of it this way 6 speed = you get to hear that motor sing it's sweet song 3-4 more times than an auto!
