2004 Monte Carlo

My speedometer is not working... It's at 180 sometimes.... Or straight down..... Why?and what can I do to fix

My 2005 Monte carlo SS & my wife's 2005 Impala SS did this an I replaced the stepper motors on both an it fixed the problem.. I bought the stepper motors on Ebay.. It's not hard to do if you can solder..

Its a 2004 monte carlo? You mean 180km/h? It sounds like a bad stepper motor. You can take it apart and replace it but it requires soldering. Or you could replace the whole cluster or have someone fix it.
