2002 Monte Carlo door "Applique" replacement
Just had to post this. Just purchased a very low milage 2002 Monte Carlo SS from local Dealership. Car is great in every way but for the exterior drivers's door "applique" (metal trim piece at end of door frame). It had rusted and looks like crap. After doing a little research I found a NEW one in factory packing on EBAY for $26.00. Was going to have a Body-shop install it. I hate to spend money if I don't need to. So I figured it out myself. Turns out it was VERY simple to do myself!
1. Roll down window
2. Grab upper black rubber at top of frame. GENTLY pull back with fingers.
3. Once door molding rubber is pulled out, you will see three "pop rivets" holding
Applique on door frame.
4. Remove screw on bottom of inside molding, just one.
5. Drill out the three rivets.
6. Gently lift up and slide Applique off.
7. Reverse procedure to assemble.
********I also waxed frame and the new "applique" before reinstall*********
*****No need to remove mirror, door pannel, or entire upper rubber molding like I read here before attempting procedure. VERY SIMPLE! NOT HARD AT ALL...
