I gave my Monte Carlo to my Grandaughter & immediately she had problems. Hubby replaced all transmission solonoids but still has a short in circuit, keeps blowing the fuse.Have been unable to find the cause or a wiring diagram for that circuit. Nearly everything has been replaced in the engine compartment over the years but this has us stumped.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

That is a typical thing that goes on with Cars.
They think you have abandoned them and they try to get even for this. Lol
But more times than not it's a driver issue your style and the new driver are much different. I do have my Haynes repair manual for the 95 to the 01 Monte Carlo. So if you can give me a detailed idea what wiring diagram you might need I could copy and scan it & post it here for you. I have not seen anything in this book that indicates Trans in the wiring only engine and chassis.

Exactly, you cannot find any wiring diagram for the T460E, it's not in the Chiltons book either. Didn't check the speed sensor tho.

The only proper fix for a 4T60-E is a shotgun blast. I had four fail on me in three different vehicles, #3 being a factory reman unit that (thank God) was still under warranty.

Hello and welcome to the forum Teri; bummer to hear about the trans.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for:

I am not wanting to come across as a critic here so I apologize if it sounds that way.
I am curious about the Monte you have with 200K.
What is it for sure Z or LS?
Service record?
Change trans fluid every 35 to 40 K?
Drive style? your drive style will be different than the 20 to 25 year old generation. My service guy tells me driving style keeps his doors open.

Seems like the young ones drive hard,

I was quizzing my kids during this time and the one thing they were obsessed with was getting up to speed as fast as possible.
So if the sign said 35 and they turned on to that street they thought they needed to be going that hard when they got to that sign even if it was 50 ft. away. (No)

I drive to save fuel and wear and tear on the car, I avoid streets that are rough cause new struts are $200.00 each. But not my wife! Then she freaks when the garage wants over $500. to fix the vehicle.

Just wondering why the electronics was a first choice for a fix.
I have always assumed changing fluids and filter in the trans maybe a better choice first time out.

Also my service guy tells me not to run the car in OD in town driving some thing about driving under 45mph shifting.
Most of the 5th Gen Montes I have seen and driven don't have a Trans issue. maybe they were lucky?

But it seems I read a lot about 6th and 7th Gens do. My son in law has a 6th gen and has had a lot of Trans issues.

I should be home by the 22nd and I will review the factory service manuals I have and see if there might be something in there that maybe useful.

As promised when I go home I would look this up for you.
What I found I have attached to this post.
I scanned the sections that applied to the solenoids.

Sorry they are not a better scan the books are almost 3 inches thick and I didn't want to tear the pages out to scan it all there is well over 141 pages that just cover the 4T60-E transmission, if there is something specific I can find let me know.
I purchase the manuals on ebay for less than $20.00 they are quite helpful.
Hope this helps.
