01 Monte Carlo Pace Car RED?
Hi im Jess and im confused!!!! I have an 01 Monte Carlo LIMITED EDITION Pace Car. Everything I have read about them said that they are black. Well mine is tourch red. I have the build sheet from GM stating that it is a limited edition Texas Motor Speedway Pace Car. The car has limited edition on the insterment cluster, dash and also the trunk. Does anyone know where I can find out about this car. Its driving me CRAZY!!! Any suggestions or advice would be helpful. Their is a Chevy emblem on hood of car and on the sides it has Texas Motor Speedway and TAZ.

I think you may be experiencing a common confusion with pace cars. There are actual pace cars used by nascar during actual races. Then there are the pace car editions put out by Chevrolet. The pace car editions produced in 2001 were black. But it sounds like you have found one of the rare real pace cars used on the actual race track.
The actual pace cars were many colors. And the graphics varied from race to race, and car to car. The cars get retired after the season and end up being sold off. Occasionally they pop up on ebay or at auctions. They usually have the strobe lights on the roof and in the spoiler on the trunk. But a lot of times they get removed by people to put on their own car or sell on the net separately.
There is a website where you can type in the VIN # and it will give you a complete list of the options and such that the car came with from the factory.
