Well guys, it's finally time! While the main attention is on the Daytona 500, those of us who follow NASCAR the closest will also be watching the second tier series now known as the XFINITY Series. We get to see the up and coming drivers, as well as some Cup drivers (such as Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski) who typically also race the XFINITY races that are on the same tracks as Cup races.

I'm contemplating keeping track of points as we go through the season, similiar to how Duane does with the cup series that he runs. If y'all want that, let me know. I'm willing, especially now that I have Saturdays off.

And now, I"ll start off with my picks. As with last year, I ask that you include the car number along with the driver name.

I'll be interested to see how Darrell Wallace does. I think he's a great driver, but I'm not ready to put my money on those Roush cars. I think the team might be crap. But it might be all the pluggy drivers ruining the program

Oh jeez! That's for point out to me the Jr is in the Nationwide race butch - I totally missed that and have adjusted my picks accordingly

 

Okay I'm just going to have to take picks without a game this time...


1) The 22, whoever drives it.
2) The 1, Elliott Sadler, ususally good at these restricter plates in Minor League races
3) The 60, Chris BUESCHER!!!

 

LOL Duane, it doesn't surprise me that you picked the 60. I thought about it myself and may regret not picking him.

Any other takers? I'll probably be in Dallas looking at ham radios during the race, but I may pack the laptop and I'll definitely be listening via TuneIn on my phone, like I did last time I went to Dallas (with my dad and brother).

Engines are fired, pools closed and we're ready to go racin'! I have to pound a beer on the first lap. It's tradition in any race with Jr, regardless of the series. But it doesn't really feel like pounding a beer on a big track like Daytona. For the big race tomorrow I'll likely chug 2 on the first lap....
