Last week, the rain delay screwed up a lot of people.... but Space figured it all out and took his third win of the year!! Chris (montecarlo3831) added 2 points to his overall standings lead, while zJerry took the lead in Segment 3 just 3 races in!

Some boring history
In the late 90's and up until the Chase, the "Ringers" like Boris Said, Scott Pruett, and some others were knwon to take the wheel of a big name car and try to win the race... it wasn't new, it was common in the 60's
Dan Gurney, an open wheel legend who invented the spoiler, spraying champagne in victory lane, and some other things, was known for being a ringer at Riverside, CA back in the day. He even drove a Torino in '68!

This Week!
The summer snooze fest is almost over!
The road course at Watkins Glen... a good race track in my opinion, seems to be more open to passing than Infinion. The regulars are the regulars for a reason.
One thing ot keep in mind.. people who aren't good on road courses sometimes nail the set up and dominate on one for some odd reason. Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick.... not typically road course names, yet they've won them!
Hendrick Motorsports
Jeff Gordon is the only man in the Hendrick stable I would dare pick this weekend. He's got more road course wins than anyone in NASCAR, he was second in Infinion, although his luck his up and down on road courses... I don't think he was in the top 10 in either race last year. However, things are different this year. Things for Gordon are looking up.
Earnhardt Jr. on a good year is not good on a road course. Jimmie won Infinion because Ambrose tried to coast up hill, and Mark Martin was a good road racer back when he had a blue oval on the hood.... now he has a bow tie and more importantly, Lance McGrew to keep him down!
Joe Gibbs Racing.
Although Hamlin is good on big, flat tracks, I don't see him winning a road course with the way his team is running this year.
Logano has a hard enough time turning right at this time...
Kyle Busch is the only Toyota worthy of being picked this week to me. If another one wins... I'll be shocked.
Richard Childress Racing
Kevin Harvick is probably the only driver in this stable who will win. He's done it before at Watkins Glen, maybe will do it again, but he seems to have lost some momentum since about Daytona in July or something.
Clint Bowyer, Paul Menard, and Jeff Burton might make a top 10, but I dont' see them contending for a win.
Stewart Haas Racing
I think Stewart woudl be a strong pick... guy has run 11 races here, won FIVE (5) of them. I would have expected him to have won a race so far this summer, but the summer snooze fest hasn't been as kind to him as in years past... he's struggling for a chase spot right now!
Ryan Newman... not so much.
Roush-Fenway Racing
The only Roush driver (although not hte only Ford driver) to worry about this week is Carl Edwards. He ran 3rd at Infinion, he's won Road America and Montreal on the Nationwide side, and I think he will put together a strong run at Watkins Glen if he can keep focused on the Cup car. He's the points leader, he has a lot of momentum, and would probably like another win since he hasn't won a points race since Las Vegas!!!
Biffle, Ragan, and Kenseth would each be lucky to score a Top 5 this week.
Penske Racing
I think I underscored Kurt Busch as a road course racer... guy ran 3rd here last year, won Infinion, and is on a roll with that Hemi power right now! Brad Keselowski might also be a good pick, but that broken foot will probably matter more on the road course.
Petty Motorsports
I think Petty has a couple of guys who came from open wheel with road course experience to worry about. The big guy to worry about is Marcos Ambrose.. he was in the 47 Toyota now driven by bobby Labonte last year, and ran 2nd to Juan Montoya. This year, he has Petty, FR9 power, and I think he will be a bigger threat this week. A.J. Allemendinger ran 4th here last year, so I think he would be a solid pick as well based on that one race.
@$$hat Teams
There are a couple of these guys to worry about. Juan Montoya won this race last year, is a great road racer, but he has a new crew chief, so can he close the deal? I don't think any of the other Michael Waltrip Racing, Red Bull Racing, or any of those guys are worth mentioning. Well, Kasey Kahne won Infinion when Stewart screwed up one time, but I think that was more a fluke. I don't see any dark blue Toyota dominating Watkins Glen....
Good and the Bad
So a quick summary of all that above... who's good, who's not:
The Good:
Jeff Gordon
Kyle Busch
Carl Edwards
Kurt Busch
Tony Stewart
Kevin Harvick?
Juan Montoya?
Marcos Ambrose?
The Bad:
The whole Roush team, except Edwards
The whole Hendrick team, except Gordon and MAYBE Johnson.... Johnson's kind of "meh"
Joey Logano (sorry Space)
My Picks
Man... so many good choices really, and the road courses are kidn of up and down.... this year, I think I want to go for it with:
1) Carl Edwards
2) Marcos Ambrose
3) Kurt Busch
I'd love to get Stewart or Carl Edwards in tehre somewhere... but man, I made the rules....

LoL~LoL 4-$ure
On a more serious note, Rick Hendrick's mother passed on earlier this week.... she was the official "owner" of Mark Martins car I believe.
We'll have to pay attention to practice speeds today and figure out who will be good this week and who won't... I've got my eye on a few people and may just edit my picks....

Where's Joey

All good race course driver's..
I did a Google's Search with Popeye

and I could not find rain tires for the race this SunDay...I know that they were testing them, but I don't think they have been approved yet, or popeye on Googles could not provide a answer for me : )
Thanks 4 your update(s)...Wish you a Fun/Safe/WeekEnd..
EnJoy the Race 4-Sure : )
