Picks/Sonoma/SunAfternoon

my picks from Yahoo................. that's all I have...
Kasey Kahne: Every time the Cup Series heads to a road course, there's a bunch of talk about the road-course specialists. But here's the thing: rarely do they win. Of the so-called "ringers," only Montoya has gotten to victory lane at Sonoma. That's why I'm picking Kahne, a winner at Sonoma in 2009 when he wasn't in nearly as good of equipment as he is now. He wasn't a good road racer early in his career, but he is now. – Jay Hart
Marcos Ambrose: I'm going with Marcos Ambrose, and not just because he's the trendy road-course pick. (All right, that's a factor.) He's running well all over the series now, and he'll have a decided advantage over at least half the field on Sunday, the drivers who just want to get this right-turn silliness over with. With a win, he could vault himself into wild-card contention. – Jay Busbee
Juan Pablo Montoya: How about another surprise wild-card contender? Montoya is hanging around the top 20 and can put himself in (legitimate) wild-card discussion with a win on Sunday. JPM has won at Sonoma before and won at Watkins Glen in 2010. EGR hasn't been great on ovals, but Montoya's one of the best road racers around and will prove it at Sonoma. – Nick Bromberg

Kasey Kahne doesn't have the consistency on road courses tehy think he does at Yahoo.... he'll either win or run like 15th. JPM will win the race or get over aggressive and crash the car. Just my thoughts. It's a gamble, like everything. Everyone on here has picks that could easily get knocked out of the race in a shoving contest and cost us a win. Any of us could win (even the people who don't pay attention and just take Jr every week) because you don't know who is going to just slide through all the carnage at the right time. One year we came to Sonoma and about half way through the race, Gordon and Johnson were in teh garage with transmission issues.. .within like 5 laps of each other. And they were both running top 5. All the ups and downs on RPMS could take an engine. All these pulls from slow starts could break a rear end assembly (happened to Jerry Naedue with 5 to go here in '03 or so, cost him a win).
It seems weird having such a late start time... but we have a late start time for this week. 3:00 pm is TV braod cast, so I suppose I'll let the window go until about 2:15-2:30.

Even though it doesnt reflect it in my position on the board.....My reason for picking JR every week. (Not cause im a huge fan) well ok I am lol.
But Jrs consistance this season....If he wasnt...he wouldnt be in the top 5 in points week in and week out....and doesnt he now have the 24s crew cheif? that helped gordon win all those road course races?????
Despite gordons 2nd place qualifying position....I have no faith that he will have a great finish here at sonoma...(despite his road course past)
I still might last minute change from stewart to Marcos.....JPM just has a history of abusive behavior on road courses for me to consider picking him..(even though hes in a chevy). he hasnt won at sonoma since 2007...Hmmmmm
Its really anybodys guess... Just ....Whos gonna win this one!
Look what happen in Last years fiasco.

You needn't defend yourself STUMPMI and the number don't lie. Junior is solid this year. He is solid point's too.
I got my wife to make picks and without know mine, she picked 1. Jimmie 2. Jr 3. Jeff - the same three. I kinda want to put Marcos in there, but he's over picked, too unoriginal. a lot picked Jeff too.

I really wanted to pick jeff gordon....and make it all hendrick....But Kane and gordon....Just aint cuttn it for me....I only picked biffle for my 3rd cause he qualified up front...(4th)
and fords and chevys seem to dominate at sonoma....
and dodge has only done it twice (Kane (2009) and Montoya(2007)

So both the Dodge guys now drive Chevrolets....
Brent, did you see my message for you on page 4?
Clsoing in on halfway with no cautions as of yet..... have to think someone is going to get the punt and put out a caution though.
Earnhardt Jr: 22nd place and not looking good at lap 50
Kentucky Speedway is so boring about 95% of the footage being shown for this race in Kentucky aren't even shot at Kentucky... teh shot out of the crowd going nuts is the Bristol night race back when Sharpie sponsored it!!!!
