Well, I don't know how much last night influenced me. McMurray does look strong. I expected that. Hamlin looks better than I thought he would. Did Tony hurt himself again?

We should clarify - this is scored for how they qualify? Or are the penalties for Pony, Danica and Bobby (who will start at the back of the field for engine replacement) invoked? I would say ignore that, but if someone is caught with something illegal in qualifying, those penalty would count. So maybe it has to be one or the other.

We know that qualifying means so little in this race unless you trying to make the cut. Ironic that the biggest qualifying production of the year matters the least. But I think it would be more fun to pick who's going home after the Duels this year. And as some guys will be locking in on time, it's best to get those picks in now.

49 drivers are on the entry list. 6 are not going to make the Daytona 500.

We've never done qualifying before so I don't know.... I'd have to say the move to the back won't count, we'll just go by their position. No points penalties are involved... so we'll just have to see if an illegal part turns up.



As far as cars not making the field.... I think you should revise that to "Cars that will have to race their way in." We won't know who doesn't make it in this race... we'll only know who will have to race their way in because their speed wasn't fast enough.
