This Week at Pocono

A lot of last week at Indy translates to Pocono-especially how well you run through that short chute. Last time we were here, the only teams worth picking were Chevrolets. I suspect that migth be true again.

Two things to look at this week are the results from Indy this week, and the results from Pocono in the spring- the track really doesn't change a whole lot in that month or so.

Here is another interesting trend at tracks like this lately.. .wiht so little passing going on at the front, and teh way a dominant car seems to emerge tehse days, poll sitters seem to win a lot of races. Pick whoever gets the poll....

CHEVROLET TEAMS

For this week, the only teams worth picking will probably be Chevrolets. Chevrolets were lightining fast in Indianapolis, they were fast in Pocono last time, and they'll probably be fast again.

Hendrick

The Hendrick cars were alright here, but Jimmie was the highlight of the gang. He was .2-.3 per second a lap faster than anyone all race long here. Teams have swept Pocono in years past, and there is no reason to think otherwise.

Gordon, Kahne, and Junior were all great at Indy too... so I think they'll be great again at Pocono.

Stewart-Haas

Tony was there and coming at teh end of hte first Pocono race, and he was good at Indy... I think Tony is on his summer hot streak and will be excellent at Pocono.

However, Ryan Newman has always been good at winning 1-2 races a year and running like crap everywhere else. I don't think his Indy win will guarantee him success at Pocono, but don't count him out either.

Childress

Burton was unlucky, but not running great anyway when all went bad at Indy. With the luck chasing Burton and Menard, one has to think New Hampshire was an exception and not an ew norm. Plus, Harvick didn't seem to have it at Indy.. unless he is good in practice, I do'nt know that Harvick will be a hot pick for Pocono either.

Eanrhardt-Ganassi

McMurray anD Montoya had that hot streak going for a few weeks... but it's hard to think it will keep going, especially after Indy and Montoya spinning here earlier in the year. I think they're long shots at best, savE Montoya for Watkins Glen next week.

FORD TEAMS

Roush

Biflfe was alright at Pocono earlier this year, but just flat out sucked at Indy this past week. I thin khe is a long shot, along with Edwards. Edwards did okay here in the spring, but when those Ford's get in traffic, they go to crap for some reason. Stenhouse doesn't have teh experience, so I just don't see any reason to suspect the Ford's will be any good this weekend from this camp....

Penske

Any Ford worth picking this week will probably come from Penske. Brad Keselowski is really good at Pocono, but he wasn't too hot at Indy or Pocono, and used strategy to get ahead. Unless he practices really well, I just don't see any need to pick him.

Logano won here once, but that seemed to be a one hit wonder for him too... his other Pocono runs haven't been so grea.t

TOYOTA TEAMS

Gibbs

Last time we came here, the engines had been neutered because of all the TRD issues. They're coming back, but the 'Yotas weren't good at Indy so I don't know how great they will be. Unless they hit on something weird, they're probably not going to keep up with the Chevrolet's at Pocono. But with the consistency and all factored in, Ithink Kyle Busch is actually the best 'Yota pick, followed closely by Matt Kenseht

Michael Waltrip Racing

These guys seem off... haven't seen much out of Bowyer or Truex in a few weeks, and Vickers won at New Hampshire without the rest of the gang around him. But hey, if they set the poll like I mentioned in the beginning... go for it....

My Picks

1) Jimmie Johnson, how can I not?
2) Tony Stewart, he's too hot too not pick.
3) Jeff Gordon, because it will be his birthday, so why not?

Poor Brian France..... to hyped up on his meth, padding the pockets of himself and his inner circle of Robin Pemberton and Mike Helton, and trying to hold the skeletons in his closet to pay attention to what race fans really want...

I am going with my same picks as last week...

1. #14 Tony Stewart (I agree he gets the hot hand during the summer)
2. #29 Kevin Harvick (Don't let me down like last week)
3. #39 Ryan Newman (Come on Newman and surprise everyone again)
