Points and Congratulatory Remarks
First off, congratulate Drew (SupplySgt) for his win at Watkins Glen! That was his first win since taking the Daytona 500 back in February! Congrats buddy! And thank you for your service to our country!
Second, congratulate Jerry Smith (77GP) for leading the Segment points roughly halfway through (4 out of 9 races). Congrats man!
Thirdly, Keane and myself went into Watkins Glen tied for the points lead, and we leave... tied for the points lead. However, we both extended our lead! But, Keane' 4 wins to my 1 make him the leader in the event of a tie. Congrats Keane!!!

This Week at Michigan
I wrote the rundown for this race in June before leaving for my Route 66 trip. Iwas surprised to learn when this race ended that only 3 Chevrolets finished top 10, and the top finishing Hendrick car was 25th. I had said that the only teams worth picking that weekend were Chevrolets and the Ford's and Toyota's ended up cleaning the clocks of the Chevrolets that week.
It seems like the drivers who ran well in the first race will end up running well in teh second.. but you usually get a different race winner.
CHEVROLET TEAMS
Hendrick
Considering the highest running Hendrick car this past time was 28th postition, I think they will come to Michigan with vengance...
'
First off... we know that the day just has to come when this tradition bucks... but until then, Jimmie Johnson has never won at Michigan!!! Is he good there? Yeah, lots of good finishes... has he led lots of laps, finished well, led the white flag lap, take the lead with 10 to go... sure. But he has never won.... Will the trend change this weekend? Hard to say.... seems like this little streak of races ahs been bad luck for Jimmie for whatever reason. He just doesn't have the edge at Bristol, Atlanta is pretty good, and when he doesn't win Richmond, he rarely finishes on the lead lap! So I just don't know about Johnson for the next month....
Jeff Gordon is on some streak where he runs great one week and wrecks the next. He should run great this week at Michigan
This is also the only racetrack Dale Earnhardt Jr. has won on in like the last 6 years so we would hope he runs well here this weekend.....
Kasey Khane is good here if he doesn't blow a tire...
Stewart Haas
I feel like without the leadership of Stewart, the team is just going to go to pieces. I'd be downright amazed if Danica finished better than 27th and Newman even finished top 15.
Richard Childress Racing
This team seems to be faltering a bit. They're taking chances to win races for the chase and heck, it might work... but I think Harvick, Menard, or Burton have to be a gamble this weekend.
TOYOTA TEAMS
If you take a Toyota, you're betting on their engines being back to full strength. They didn't seem to have that edge at Pocono, and Michigan is another track that requires a lot of power. So I don't know,.
Gibbs
Kenseth was great here for Roush, and Hamlin has won here. But Hamlin couldn't catch a break for anything and Kenseth has actually been pretty inconsistent lately. Kyle Busch will probably be the best bet out of this group this weekend...
Waltrip Racing
Bowyer and Truex could be threats this weekend at Michigan, but they may not have the power to pull the straightaways here this weekend.
FORD TEAMS
Roush
Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards were good in the spring race, but I just don't know about them this time. It seems like Michigan is hard to sweep and the Roushketeers just don't have it together right now. Biffle has led laps in the last 5 races here and won the last two though . So even when they're off, Biffle seems to figure out what to do at Michigan.
Edwards hasn't led a lot of laps in Michigan lately, but he has run decently. But I'm afraid if he gets back in traffic, he'll never get back to the front.
Penske
Logano led 21 laps and finished 9th here earlier this year, one of his best runs ever at Michigan.
Keselowski's only good news is that in the last two years, he has run 3rd and 2nd in the August race. Otherwise, he rarely finishes top 10 at Michigan, despite that it is his home track.
My Picks
1) Joey Logano
2) Jeff Gordon
3) Kyle Busch
