Default Picks/Homestead/Sunday Afternoon

Intro to This Week in Fantasy

Here we are guys... three people have a chance at the title (in my opinion), and 4 have a realistic chance at a segment. Mathmatically, anyone can win the segment, and the top 7 in overall points could win though.

I would like to say congratulatoins on our inaugural fantasy year... it's been great. And for those of you not in contention for a Segment or the overall points... I still encourage you to give it a shot because the race is still there to be won.

Points, Intro, and Congratulatory Remarks

Todd lost his first race in the tiebreaker, but won the tie breaker for Phoenix, putting him in the W column for the year!!!! That gives him the Segment 4 lead going into the final race!!!

Also, I would like to congratulate 77GP and MonteCarlo3831 for putting a major dent in my points lead, making it interesting going into Homestead. Those guys did what needed to be done last week, and I applaud them. I look forward to a showdown in Homestead with these guys. Maybe I should just copy one of them to make sure I hold the lead!!!

This Week

even on off year,s the Fords are good here.. they have more wins than any other manufacturer, which you can't say for most tracks!!! Watch out for teams with a strong 1.5 mile program this weekend.

Roush Fenway Racing

You can't go wrong with this team. Greg Biffle won three straight here, Kenseth has won here, And Edwards has a pair of wins here as well!!! This team has even taken the top 3 spots in this race before! I say again, ANY Roush driver is a great pick.. providing Biffle can avoid bad luck.

Stewart Haas

Stewart won the first two races here... when this was a flat track. But Stewart is different right now and you can't deny how fast he is. Watch out for him again this week!!!

Hendrick Motorsports

I just don't know what to sya... they are falling apart as teh season comes to a close. Jr. might be their top dog for the year. I'd take any of these guys with extreme caution

Joe Gibbs Racing

Don't know what to say... almost like the engine problems are coming back for them guys. I think I'll be staying away from these guys.. heck, last year, Busch had it figured out and Harvick dumped him.

Childress Racing

Harvick has been wanning a little bit here lately... he was great at the beginning of the yea,r but what can you say now. Burton seems to be the man making all the right moves right now... took a chance at Texas, ran well at Phoenix.... but he's got a lot of bad luck on him too. I think the team ahs given up on Bowyer, and Menard is still Menard.

Richard Petty Motorsports

These guys have been great on 1.5s and Allmendinger has momentum going as the year closes out!! I might just have to take a look at that guy. Ambrose isn't bad either.

Penske

Kurt Busch complained about how much better of a driver Keselowski was this weekend. Kind of funny. I'm not too worried about them.. Keselowski seems to have lost the magic and isn't closing the races as well. Plus, Keselowski doesn't have as much experience at Homestead since we only go there once a year.

Random @$$Hat Teams

Kahne got a win in a toyota, and a win in a Chevrolet with Hendrick seems inevitable.. he will have won with every major manufacturer before his career is over. Montoya is good at stiring up trouble... hopefully all ours picks stay away from him this week.

My Picks

I have to be careful.... I'm suffering a mental hit with that points loss last week. But it's Ford weekend, and I have a Ford, and I'm going to with a set of them.....

1) Carl Edwards
2) Matt Kenseth (hopefully Vickers is done with him)
3) AJ Allmendinger

And for some reason, ever since Stewart got hot, something has been telling me not to get on that bandwagon. Maybe it's because I'm partial to Edwards. Whatever it is, that hunch cost me a lot of my points lead last week, so you may do well not to listen to that hunch.

The Poll

Just be honest with it... just check one of the real NASCAR guys, and select which member you think (or want) to win the title!

This could be a good time to point out that I had to give 77GP a 6 point penalty after the first Pocono race. He chose Kyle Busch, who was peanlized for being 1/16th on an inch too low. It could be interesting if that 1/16th of an inch ends up being the difference for Jerry.

of course I had to pick myself, and Duane I think you let up this week just to make it a close finish? Best of luck to the MCF top 3 and to Carl Edwards winning the championship.......

I wouldn't let up unless I already had a title... I may never the opportunity to win another.

Once again, just want to remind everyone that 1) Even if you're not in contention for a Segment or a title, there is still a race here to be won and 2) Since I think (and I'm prejudiced) that this has been a major success, there will be a 2012 season to go for!!!

I am not picking yet but I can say it wont be anyone in Duanes 3. That worked well for me this week. Gonna make a little research for this one.
Edit: Now would be a great time for Duane to pick from the hat

Maybe we should start playing mind games with one another just to make it like the real life last week in a tight championship battle????

The six point penalty at Pocono, Jerry, wooooooo

It is a little intimidating to go up against the only guy to put together a 1-2-3 finish. And in the past, when 77GP said he was coming, he did.

Two people already taking Edwards, Stewart, and Kenseth!! Popular set...

77GP, as far as that going with research for this one.. I don't know. I started trying to do research and using stats in the summer, and it was so-so. I'd just hate to see your heart tell you one thing, the stats tell you another, and you lose because of it. You've come a really long way going with your heart.... it might just carry you all the way.
