Classic NASCAR Photo of the Day: Donnie Allison celebrates with Ms. Linda Vaughn (Ms. Hurst Shifter from back in teh day) after his victory in the 1970 Firecracker 400. Donnie won the race after David Pearson blew a right front tire with just a fwe laps to go.
It is also worth nothing that 12 years ago today, we lost Dale Earnhardt in the Daytona 500.
I was listening to teh race with my parents on teh radio while going to Charlotte in the 18 wheeler. My dad had daily runs to a Barnes and Noble distributor Sunday-Thursday. On weekends, my mother and I rode with him.
We never knew until we got home at about 7:00 that Earnhardt was gone.
May he rest in peace.

RIP Dale, I was in Daytona and almost went to the race. We made a last minute decision to watch it instead of going. Had been on a bahama cruise and was wore out.
Duane- I honestly think guessing for the pole is an unnecessary event. While it could be fun, just too much calculating and we know you do more than your share. I am here to back you up when needed for that.

I may have to call you up on that a couple times this year. I may be going to Martinsville in April as well as October... maybe Richmond too.
As far as the Pole goes, I am drawing a line on it. I did do it for Daytona, but I won't do it again. If anyone wants to volunteer to handle pole day, we can do it and I'll put the results in the stats thread, but that's about it.

RIP Dale Earnhardt!
Your definately missed.. I was his Ultimate Fan... (Won lots of race bets!)
I was watching the race here at home.. On my Then New 40inch. Sony Bravia! In 5.1 surround sound!
That was a Huge shocker! Nascar just isnt the same without him!
He was NASCAR!
Im good with the "POLE PICK" for Daytona only!
I dont see it being something to do the rest of the season...
Thanks Duane for the Memorial Tribute!
