Classic NASCAR Photo of the Day

Here is one of Cale Yarborough and Lee Roy Yarbrough racing in the 1968 Daytona 500 in a pair of 1968 Mercury Cyclones. Tehse two raced hard for the win, and Cale got it. Mercury used these shots in a lot of advertising that year.

There were apparenhtly some complaints about my missing shots and not having much distance on my target in the last video. Well I took another "shot" at it.

Here is my new gimic!!!

Good luck to all who are participating this year. I may make some pics for the 500 and a few other big races but I dont think I will race for a championship this year. Oh and I hope this is the view we see on Sunday.

Duane,Duane,Duane....

Talk about in accuracy.... Clearly you put your faves at the top of the Target board! I could see you counting the 24....... The rest of them not so much!

But I will say thats an amuseing way to do your picks!.. At the very least..
You got some practice in!

I believe by the end of the season.... You should be able to hit anyone you want(your picks) dead on!

Part of it was I forgot just how high on the board I was aiming.... part of it was that I made a last minute adjustment to my sight vs. practice and only shot twice with the adjustment. I always have a tendency to shoot high with rifles and low with pistols.

But for the record... I will assure that I did NOT want Danica!

Maybe for the 500 I should just put a bunch of people all over the board, with the ones I want at the centermost, and then fire the rifle? Or I might just pick the 500 with my head....

I'm not going to get home in time from school to see Duel 1 live. I might be late on the points. You better bet I'm coming home ASAP today! School doesn't really release until about 2:45 though.

Photo released by the Motorsports Hall of Fame. I've been holding this one in my back pocket until qualifying day.

Here's to hoping all the drivers stay safe and don't go into Lake Lloyd today. With all the safety equipment today, you might never get out... but Tiger Tom Pistone probably just grabbed a knife, cut the rope he probably tied himself in with, and flashbacked to his days ofb eing a 5 year old boy and swam to safety.

This is from the 1960 100 Mile qualifying race. The car is a '59 Thunderchicken

Lou, I agree with you! They just need Keelan to drool all over the inside of the car before the race again.

Working from home today and will be watching the Duals later this afternoon.

Have to say I really like the paint scheme of the 29 for this season. I did like the all black scheme when Budweiser first took over sponsorship, reminiscent of Earnhardt Sr's 3 back in the day. Just ordered my Harvick 1:24 scale die-cast (standard paint scheme) for 2013. Decided to order his Jimmie Johns 2011 scheme since it was more than half off. Another two to the collection.
