Picks/Bristol/SatNight
Points and Congratulatory Remarks
First, congrats to Jerry Smith, who was won two of the last three races, giving him a strong boost in the overall points and a stout lead halfway through Segment 3 in the Segment points....
Also, there is a new overall points leader... for now... it seems to swap back and forth quite a bit these days....

This Week at Bristol
The Bristol night race, for years, was known as the greatest racei n NASCAR.... and it's still among the better ones, but it just isn't as great as it once was with the repave. Hopefully, the Gen 6 cars brings new racing there... the spring wasn't so bad... hard for me to remember considering how sick I was that day......

I rarely cover the 'Yota camp first, but this week, I will...
Joe Gibbs Racing
I think these cars stand a good chance. Matt Kenseth had a great car i nteh spring before getting tied up with JEff Gordon. However, Matt Kenseth hasn't run well lately so I have to think he may lead some laps and get tanlged up in someones mess.... that's just his luck.
Kyle Busch is probably the best of the time at Bristol... betting against Pyle Bulschit is betting against the odds!
Denny Hamlin ran well here in the spring, but he hasn't been running well since.
Michael Waltrip Racing
Since going to Michael Waltrip, Clint Bowyer has been among the best at Bristol. It wouldn't be surprising to see him get that first win of hte year here!
Since going to MWR, Martin Truex always seems to run well in the night race here too....
FORD TEAMS
Penkse
The Penske Ford's are the best right now, and the Pensek cars are great Bristol. I thought for a time that perhaps Brad Keselowski was wrestling the reigns of this place away from Kyle Busch. He had a "shenaningan" last year... it seems like his car was set up to run the inside line and everyone ended up running the top anyway. If they nail the setup ,they're going to be fast and the Miller Lite Ford will be fast.
Joey Logano was alright, but he only has one top 10 here... however, his loop numbers are good, indicating that he runs well here, but doens't get that finish... nad that finish matters!
Roush Fenway
Carl Edwards used to be the King of the Night at Bristol, with so many good finishes and two wins in consecutive years. However, recently, Carl just hasn't nailed it here. In the spring, he got sick in the car during the race (much as I got very sick at Subway before the race) and had a crappy run. Jimmy Fennig loves Bristol, so if Carl practices and qualifies well, I might swing for him!
Greg Bifflle likes Bristol and it's his kidn of track and race!
Ricky is too awestruck to focus or something...
Petty Cars
No momentum, they both suck at Bristol anyway....
CHEVROLET TEAMS
Jeff Gordon has more wins here than any other driver with 5, but it has been a while since he got one... seems like he beat Rusty Wallace for that last win here.... However, he has great runs, especially in the night race.
Jimmie Johnosn has never won the night race, but he has run well and crashe,d got caught up in the pits, and usually ends up with a bad night... sometimes a bad handling car while he's at it. Plus, this time of year just isn't good to Jimmie Johnson for some reason....
Kasey Kahne is great at Bristol and loves this place. I think he'll be osmeone to watch out for.
Dale Earnhardt Jr actually has the 2nd best average finish at Bristol and won this race in 2004. He's good here!
Richard Childress racing
Harvick is good at Bristol and the team has some momentum with 2 in the top 5 at Michigan. But Bristol is a new animal..... Burton is good here too, but he just has so much bad luck these days....
Stewart Haas
It seems like noth aving Stewart around to guide that team has caused everyone to fall apart.
