Default Penske!

Holy crap... Penske bought Saturn!!!

I heard rumours before and didn't take them serious. I guess the guy's got money alright. So, what next? I think its great that Saturn will continue... will it? I guess that the plan. I think there's a lot to talk about here. Maybe this is the wrong section to breach such a topic. Except I wanna bring it around to...

...does this mean we will be seeing Saturn in Nascar anytime soon? Makes perfect sense to me, but I guess it really depends on what Roger's plans are (for the company). Seems like a conflict of interest to be promoting Dodge, and Dodge doesn't have many players left in this. No car manufacture has straight up owned a Nascar team before.

I think this is huge, whatchoo think?

I wanna see it on the cars. Wouldn't it be awesome to see Saturn Aura's on the Sprint Cup circuit?

Can he legally even own Saturn and promote Dodge at the same time? As an investor on either side of the coin I would be unhappy.

As a Solstice owner, I would LOVE to see the Saturn Sky (AND the Solstice, especially the brand new coupe) stick around. It MUST be in the talks, even if it hasn't been formally brought out into the open. There is still a lot of life left in that tooling.

As far as NASCAR, it only make sense (and $$$). Why would you run a competitor's brand, At that point, he is probably the most influential man in the US auto industry, next to Ford, and maybe more so. He is the #2 car dealer in the States, and this move will in a round about way, make him #1. Why would he NOT run Saturns, to me is the question?

Here's another thought. The NASCAR cars are nothing like the factory cars. NOTHING! They RESEMBLE them, and that's about it. And what powers them? Special V-8's that never see street cars. What does this mean to Roger Penske? He can now develop a NEW v-8, of HIS (their) design, using all the knowledge that Penske racing has assembled throughout his vast history in motorsports. This means a clean slate. He has the abilities to do whatever he wants. To me, THIS is a HUGE advantage. There is no other owner in NASCAR that is ALSO the manufacturer. He has FULL control over all aspects of development, and you know his resources arepretty much unlimited. His only limits are what NASCAR imposes. WOW!!!! What are his possibilities now??? NASCAR, lookout! Here comes the Penske Saturn team!

All i can say is if Penske brings to the streets ANY of that technology, the Saturn line-up is going to be running with the Big Dogs.

Watch out Rustang, that's a Saturn about to pass you.

That would be nice to see. The Penske Saturn team.

The car that Ford is running in Nascar looks nothing like the real thing. Not even close! So why can't Penske put some Saturn Skye decals on the COT car?

It would be even nicer if the Toyotas dropped out of Nascar, and got replaced with Saturns.

So I fear that Penske is just seeing this as a business opportunity. I believe he has a couple manufacturers lined up to continue to make the cars for like 2 years, but I think he's just waiting out this economic slump and is going to try to sell the brand in a little bit. Not really do much with it.

Hasn't he purchased race tracks, and then just turn them around for more money?

it's like Flip this House, but with very expensive franchises. haha
