my picks for sunday:
1. tony stewart
2. denny hamlin
3. jeff gordon
ryan newman is running both the NEMA (new england midget assoc.) race tonight at lee usa speedway (about 45 mins. from loudon) and tomorrow at loudon in the whelen modified series. i almost went up to lee tonight for the midgets, i love those cars, always put on a good show. but it's been raining on and off here today and up there too, and i don't want to drive 1 1/2 hours only to come right back because it gets rained out. plus traffic and parking there are insane. i really wish i could make it tomorrow for the modified race, they're my favorite division of all of the different types of racing that i watch/follow. wish ryan best of luck this weekend!!
weird - i just noticed above the "quick reply" box there is a google ad for my racing school! COOL! (www.theracingschool.com). at least i know the $3,000 a month we pay for google advertising works!!!

Here I am!
Martin looks really good for this race! He's in the car he dominated Phoenix in. The car hasn't been used since, but Phoenix and Loudon are very similiar tracks. Tony the Pony also very good here, and I don't usually admit that. This is the week for Jr to turn it around. He also did a great job at Sonoma. Carl Edwards screwed that up for a lot of people, but I'll forgive Carl cause he's cool.
Anyways, that's the way I'm pickin' 'em. All Chevs:
1. Mark "the Kid" Martin
2. Pony Stewart
3. Dale Earnhardt Jr
Does Jr have a nickname? Why?

well well well....
first off, congrats to joey logano and the #20 team. i still love those guys after watching them with tony for 10 years. as much as i hate rain/fuel wins, it's part of racing and there's nothing anyone can do about it. zippy made a great call by having joey stay out instead of pitting, and it paid off.
some of us at the track "watched" the race (live leaderboard) on my phone for a few laps, and put up TrackPass RaceView with about 70 laps to go (tony was leading at the time). looks like tony had another good day, so i'm happy for them.
one of our crew guys drives in the NEMA midgets and ran in the race at lee speedway on friday night (which ryan newman also ran in). he said ryan was super nice, talked with him a bunch during some downtime in the pits and ryan was under the car and under the hood wrenching around with his crew. said if you hadn't seen his face you would have thought he was one of the mechanics. i love that even though he'll not run that car again probably until next year, he was in there working on the car like it was his weekly racer. that's passion.
yesterday was a great day for racing, i had nothing to do so i watched racing pretty much alllllllllll day long. watched both cup practice sessions, nationwide practice, truck qualifying, then there was a modified race on the local channel from a couple months ago (my favorite local racing series), then the 98 daytona 500 was on espn classic (the one that earnhardt sr. won), then the nationwide race and the truck race. then after all that was over i watched the yankees beat the mets, the a's lose to the rockies and the dodgers lose to the mariners. a good sports day all around!!
