Bobby Labonte gets Ben Leslie as new chief

Posted by admin in News

CONCORD, N.C. (April 22, 2009) – Yates Racing today announced Ben Leslie, former crew chief for the No. 28 Yates Racing Ford, will serve as crew chief for Bobby Labonte and the No. 96 Hall of Fame entry for the remainder of the 2009 season. Previous crew chief Todd Parrot will assist the Yates organization as a whole.
“Ben’s experience with Ford Racing is really an asset to our organization,” said Max Jones, co-owner of Yates Racing. “The No. 96 team is fortunate enough to have a Champion driver and a group of experts in the sport. I believe Ben will bring the right changes to this team to help it accomplish some solid finishes this season and climb a few positions in the points.”
Prior to joining Yates Racing, Leslie served as a liaison between Ford Racing and NASCAR managing Ford’s development in all three series. Earlier in his career, Leslie worked with several notable drivers including Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch and Ricky Rudd. In 2001 Leslie led Martin to a second-place finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings, recorded 15 top-10 finishes and a win in the Coke 600.

Rich Get Richer: Points Leader Gordon Restrictor Plate King

Jeff Gordon holds an 85-point lead over Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson. It could grow with another patented Gordon restrictor plate win.
Gordon is the all-time leader in restrictor plate wins with 12. He broke the record in the second Talladega race in 2007, passing Dale Earnhardt’s 11.
Gordon is looking to rebound off a 25th-place finish at Phoenix, his first finish outside the top 10 since the Daytona 500 (13th).

Talladega Goes AMP Green: Earnhardt Jr. A Dega Favorite
The Sea of Green, thanks to favorite son Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s sponsor AMP Energy, will once again be well represented at Talladega Superspeedway. And more often than not, they go home happy.
Earnhardt has won five times at Talladega (including four in a row from 2001-03), and has led laps in 16 of his 18 Talladega races.
Earnhardt dropped three positions in the points standings with a 31 st place finish at Phoenix and now sits 19th.

`Jamie Lyn, I wish I had cable or Dish Network to watch it.
I really enjoy your posts about Nascar & Rac'in.
Our Forum does not have as many fans since they don't have the Monte in the Race.

I would like to see `Jr do good this weekend. I know he has the talent, & high speed tracks R good 4 him. Maybe his Dad's Spirit will inspire him. I think it's going 2 be another great Race, but I'm still not sure about my picks.
Thanks for all your contributions....You made the MCF more fun...
4 Sure....

i don't have tv to watch it at work, i just watch the leaderboard on nascar.com. any way to get my nascar fix

i think junior will have a good weekend, he has done really well here in the past, it seemed like he was the only one winning here for a while there while he was still with DEI. everyone says it's a speed track, as opposed to a handling track (like daytona), and it is just a chess match till the white flag drops. as long as he can keep himself out of trouble till then he'll have as good a shot as anyone to win.

i don't consider myself a junior fan per se, but i do like him as a person and i do find myself pulling for him when people try to throw him under the bus. so he's not as talented as his father, big deal. i think he knows that and i can only imagine that he is sick of being compared to him. look at kyle petty. he had his days in the sun and never came anywhere near being as good as *his* father.

space, thanks. i might not be able to contribute much when it comes to exhaust, intake, engine and electrical issues & questions, but at least i feel knowledgeable when it comes to this part of the forum i'm learning a lot about that other stuff though 4-SURE!!

matt kenseth went for a wild ride in the nationwide race today. http://www.nascar.com/video/busch/20...h.four.nascar/

it's a testament to how safe they build these racecars nowadays. it was definitely scary to watch live. thank god he landed right-side up. oddly enough his teammate that bumped him and sent him flying ended up winning the race!
