Nationwide Series Logo
Written by Administrator & Space
Oct 18, 2007 at 05:00 PM

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 18, 2007) – The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) and Nationwide Insurance today unveiled the logo for the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

The introduction of the new logo is the latest step for the series’ transition to Nationwide as its title sponsor, after 26 years of sponsorship by Anheuser-Busch’s Busch brand. NASCAR and Nationwide announced a seven-year partnership agreement on Oct. 3, which also made the insurance company the official auto, home and life insurance provider of NASCAR.

The logo was designed by St. Louis, Mo.-based Jump Co., following collaboration between NASCAR and Nationwide.

“The logo is simple yet extremely effective in delivering a completely new look to the branding of the series,” said Steve Phelps, NASCAR’s chief marketing officer. “It’s good to be able to place a ‘face’ to a name now.”

"Nationwide is pleased to be able share the new NASCAR Nationwide Series logo today," said James Lyski, chief marketing officer for Nationwide. "Over the next several years, Nationwide intends to make this series the finest entertainment experience in racing."

The quest for the inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series championship will begin on Feb. 16, 2008 at Daytona International Speedway. The series, which features 35 races at 26 tracks located in 20 states and two countries – Canada and Mexico – is exclusively broadcast on ESPN2 and ABC.

Coleman Signs Full Nationwide Series Ride for 2008
19 Year-Old Set to Run Kleenex Car for Championship at Brewco Motorsports

Charlotte, NC (October 17, 2007) – After a successful rookie season in the NASCAR Busch Series, teenage driving sensation Brad Coleman has decided to leave Joe Gibbs Racing to pilot a full-time ride in the No. 27 Kleenex Ford Fusion with the new owners of Brewco Motorsports.

In only 15 races to date for JGR in 2007, Coleman has posted three Top 5’s, five Top 10’s, seven Top 15’s, and nine Top 20’s, winning the Pole at Talladega and posting the highest finishing average of any non-Cup experienced driver in the series. Extraordinary statistics considering he was the youngest driver in the series for most of the season, seeing many of the race tracks for the very first time, and competing against a host of Nextel Cup drivers.

Brewco Motorsports’ new owner and CEO Gary Baker feels fortunate to have Coleman on his roster.

“We believe Brad is one of the hottest young prospects on the circuit and when we found out he was not going to be in a full ride at Gibbs, we made a run for him,” stated Baker. “He is an impressive young man with a bright future ahead of him and is the kind of guy we want to build our organization around. He is not only talented on the track, but off the track as well and will add significant value to our sponsors. We think he can contend for the Nationwide Championship next year and the guys on the team are already excited about 2008.”

In the move, Coleman will reunite with his former Crew Chief, Shawn Parker. Running Brewco’s development program in 2006, Parker guided Coleman to a successful ARCA debut, posting eight Top 5’s in just nine races and garnering a win at Kentucky in a double green-white-checker restart against nine time series champion Frank K

Jarrett to Replace Ousted Wallace in Booth

Filed under: Dale Jarrett, NASCAR Media Watch

Guess what, fans? ESPN really does listen to us! Or ... maybe they just listen to their own broadcasts and realize how painful they are all on their own.

Rusty Wallace is out! Out I say! Done deal. My source actually used the word "fired!"

I'll tell ya what ... I don't care if he was fired, quit or otherwise. I'd just like to wish him good riddance. One Answer this... reader suggests that ESPN will shift Wallace back to the IRL booth. Good for him--they can have him.

Wallace will be replaced by the retiring Dale Jarrett, who drove circles around his fellow former champion in the booth this season.

Never thought I'd say it .. Thank you, ESPN!

Update: Daly Planet has also received a confirmation that Rusty is out.

Update: Official Comment from ESPN
[blockquote]"Rusty Wallace is our guy. We have a long-term contract with him. He's the voice of NASCAR on ESPN."
NORBY WILLIAMSON – ESPN Executive Vice President, Studio and Remote Production[/blockquote]That's disappointing. I should like to withdrawal my thanks and hope that Mr. Williamson is just saying that 'cause he has to and that he'll be telling us something different at a later date.

GP `Dave,I love your Logo : ) LOL ~ LOLIt's sad, it's all turned into a Money Game, but thesheepeople are supporting NASCAR.My Grandfather, also likes Rusy Wallace, but I can't remember him as a race car driver. I've read his record, and noticedthat he won a lot, and raced Dale Sr.My GP also likes, Dale Jarrett, and his late father `Ned.Life goes on, until it ends.`Amen...`Space

I dont mind them replacing Rusty but I really would love them to raplace that irritating women that's up in the booth during prerace. Her voice makes my toes curl and she knows jack about racing.

While we are at it how about the yehaw that gives us details on the cut away car. That redneck needs to learn how to talk without looking like a complete fool.

My opinion is give FOX the races all season. ESPN cant broadcast NASCAR to save their lives.

J.R. steps off soapbox ;-)
