Default Make Picks/Martinsville, Sunday the 24th!!!

And I'm going to be at Martinsville this year!! I'll be sitting pretty high in Turn 1, w here you can see everything in the corners of your eyes! And the long shot is certainly Kasey Kahne, who on an article printed at like 11:11 on Wednesday night, is fired from RPM and the 9 Ford.

Martinsville is one of those places you either get it or you don't. The guys who get it love it, and those who don't hate it. So that being said, I'm going to be Captain Obvious, and go with:

1)Denny Hamlin
2)Jimmie Johnson
3)Jeff Gordon (Hey, I've been there/done that with ignition issues, had one strand me in Raleigh on the Torino one night)

As far as guys to avoid, well
1) Carl Edwards
2) Matt Kenseth
3) Greg Biffle

Yeah, as much as I love me Ford's and Roush, they just suck at Martinsville.

So, 5 Chevy's, 2 Fords, 3 Toyota's in the top 10.

I'm here. I guess I don't have a lot to say because Cowboy has already called this one. Hammy will likely win this race - Duane's pics are the ones I'd pic. I'll come up with some original ones here, just to play our game, but at home (where I play the game with my wife) I'm using Duane's top 3.

I wouldn't mind blowing off a bit about Kahne. I'm hugely disappointed in him for copping out of that race last week and I think he deserves to get fired! Too many people work too hard and invest time and dollars to have him out there. He's paid a fortune to be out there! I don't buy that he was sick since he ran a marathon the next morning. And those RPM cars have been fast - he nearly won Charlotte 2 weeks ago. This is not a professional way to exit a team. I think he's acting like a spoiled little bitch and he's in for a big surprise when he realizes walking over to Team Red Bull isn't going to produce instant winning results. Kahne qualified 33rd this week.
RPM's future is also in jeopardy, and I think Kahne could accept some of that blame as I'm sure he has comprimised some of the big Budweiser money! It is a screwed up team thou, and I feel bad for AJ.

Anyways, here's some original picks:

1. Pony
2. Joey
3. McMurray
last: JJ Yeley (it worked out pretty damn good last week!)
first caution: Kevin Conway
# of cautions: 11

I was at this race exactly 6 years ago to the day, for my 'sweet 16'. I remember it like it was yesterday. My Dad had a torn rotator cuff, we got stuck in traffic for 8 hours getting there cuz of a really bad accident, our 35' RV got stuck in the mud, and thats when the Hendrick team plane crashed. Jimmie Johnson won that race, and victory lane was basically non-existant. That was my birthday from Hell. My Dad refuses to take me back to Martinsville. But my picks for this weekend are...

1. Denny Hamlin
2. Jimmie Johnson
3. Kyle Busch (wild card)

And I'm going to be there! I'm leaving home at about 8:30 in the morning, I live 2 hours out. I'll get a couple of pictures. I went to Dover and posted some pictures in the off topic section at that time. I'm looking forward to it, guys!

And Brent, it ain't a hard pick.... this is one of the easier tracks to get because something can happen dead in front of you and because this track is so slow, you can avoid getting caught up in it. You could snap a rear end, speed on pit road, or cut a tire... but that can happen anywhere as well. I might even average a faster speed on my way to or back to college (save the traffic leaving the track) than the cars average at Martinsville.

And Kasey ran a 5k, not a marathon.. but I take your point. I sure don't do a lot of running when I'm sick. I have a hard time thinking he's giving it his all knowing he's going to have his dream team in 2012 for a year before the world ends (AHHA!) But at the same time, what kind of message are you sending your future team? And another thing... does anyone remmeber when he left Ford and Ford filed a lawsuit in like '04 when he went to Evernham and Dodge from a Ford team in the then Busch series. This guy has a tendency to just shut down on you when he knows he's got something better coming.

`Brent, I was let down by Kasey for his actions, or lack of them. He's in the above vid that I posted, but you got to let it play...I won't be able to see the race 2morrow, but I hope that I can listen to it on the radio, or check the leaderboard online.

Cowboy `Duane, yes I think you made some awesome picks.
I will post mine 2morrow morning : ) , but I hope Joey continues to do well.

I really can't give an educated guess on this, but I hope Harvick finishes ahead of Jimmie Johnson this week. I think Nascar needs a new winner for it to succeed into the future.

and if anyone follows the Sunday show called "undercover boss" it features a Nascar boss this week....
