Cup Picks/Bristol/Sun Afternoon
It's off to Bristol, baby! As we go, remember to congratulate 02 Earnhardt for winning Texas! He, like Jimmie Johnson, has won both 1.5 mile double dog leg tracks this year. St. Louis' favorite son, zjerry is leading the overall points as well!! Now we head for appalachia to ride around the half mile bull ring/colliseum at Bristol.
And if you think you're man enough, take a tour of the Bristol Motor Speedway with my family and JuniorCar Brent! That's right, we took 5 laps around this beast in 2012 and I blew a right rear tire on the way home from it all! https://scontent-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...63&oe=55B1DE10 https://scontent-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...73&oe=55A5118B https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...b97986468d01b7 |

Ryan Newman and Richard childress presented their appeal today, in which they had their 75 point penalty reduced to a 50 point penalty. Likewise, 06mistreSS, who chose Ryan Newman at this race, had 25 points added back to his total, moving him from 13th to 8th in overall/segment 1 points. Without a penalty, however, he would have been 3rd, and only 16 points out. The stats thread, along with my personal spreadsheet, has been adjusted to reflect this.

I thought I made picks earlier in the week - whoops! I gotta pick:
1. Dale Jr 2. Kevin Harvick 3. Joey Logano ... the same as every week. It seems to me that we are seeing the same drivers succeeding every week. More than ever and regardless of track. I gotta say that this is taking a lot of the fun out of racing. There's always been stronger teams than others, but we used to see some drivers doing better or worse on some tracks. Not any more. Still, Jr is strong and I'll be damned if he wins a week that I don't pick him. |
Thanks `Duane >Good Luck 2 `all >EnJoy<
Hi Cowboy `Duane & everyone,
It's not easy trying to pick the losers & being last in the contest :wtf::confused::) My Picks for Bristol 1. Matt Kenseth 2. Brad Keleslowski 3. Denny Hamlin |

This could be more fun. A long time ago, before we really started scoring these things, our picks would include who would bring out the first caution. I think 'Space thought that was kind of a mean thing to do - inviting bad karma. He was probably right. The winner (loser) was usually Hornish or Peblo and we probably stopped picking cuz it was an easy one to pick and we'd all pick the same guy. There are probably more "plugs" now than ever and it might be fun to call the first cautioner again. 'Space ain't around to disapprove... Nobody tell him!

Jr
Harvick Keselowski |
The irony is... that group that picks the same 3 guys over and o ver hasn't won yet that I know of, it's usually someone who picks 1-2 of those cats and then switches out the third. There is a group every week of 4-7 pickers who have the same or nearly the same point total... sometimes more than that.
I wonder if I cut the picks back to picking two a week, if that would make a difference or just make it worse? |
My Picks
#1 Harvick
#2 Keselowski #3 Logano |
I'm going with
Harvick Kenseth Keselowski |
Harvick
Hamlin Dale Jr. |

That would be different. And overdue...
Hi Brent, I don't follow NASCAR like Space did, but I do know that Harvin is a aggressive driver & he really wants to get another win (so, does everyone), but Harvick seems to take chances more then others to get ahead....I do like watching him race...I really have been just picking my choice from my rear-end (LOL)... Never know, something good may fall `out >:rotfl: (This is fun: ) |
Aww Mike don't put that voodoo on Harvick. He's my first pick this week! Just kidding though its all in good fun.
|
I pick him too. But truth is, Harvick is long overdue for some bad luck. It comes around for everyone. Some more than others
|
Yep I just hope it ain't this week, but at Bristol, it could be anybody.
|
Harvick
Gordon Kenseth |
Jeff Gordon
Brad Keselowski Kevin Harvick |
Ok, ModDave! My pic for first to cause a caution is Brad Kesolowski. He's not a plug but he'll tear up a car going for it!
|
Kevin Harvick
Joey Logano Kasey Kahne |
Rain is going to make things tricky today.
4 Kevin Harvick 19 Carl Edwards 1 Jamie McMurray |
I just got the BudChev out of storage! This will bring Dale jr additional luck that he don't even need. DewShine will be in victory lane today boys (and girl)!
Click here for a list of driver entrance music for the race! And let's discuss our favorites during the rain delay. Matt Kenseth coming out to "Symphony of Destruction" by MegaDeth should get him charged up! That seems a little out of character, but it's awesome. David Gilliand coming out to "Rock you Like a Hurricane" is super cool too because that is probably the greatest song ever recorded. But I can't understand how Kasey Kahne has failed to make that his. I'd lose my sh!t if he entered to it dancing like he did in those old AllState commercials. I think the entrance matters, but I'm a WWE fan too. Hamlin won the night race a few year ago after winning a crowd reaction challenge, but I can't remember the song. He really hammed up the entrance dancing - I was there and loved it myself. He felt the support of 100,000 and couldn't lose... |
That awkward moment when your whole fantasy team has crashed by lap 30...

edit: I count 5 members without Penske drivers, but many picked both |
I also had Stenhouse, who had a slide, minor damage, and lost 8 spots several laps earlier.
|
Well, maybe Stenhouse will still win the race and you'll be the only guy who picked him. That could work out. /sarcasm
|
You win some, you lose some, you wreck some. I think it's safe to say I won't be 3rd in points leaving Bristol!
I won Martinsville by taking advantage of the bad luck of nearly every other member here... now I'm taking the bad luck! |
