Wow well thank god for that light even as a tech when you start mixing things that are not suppose to be mixed into one another then you have to clean the whole system flush it it is just a pain wow though thank you for the warning next time if that light comes on I will def. have to check it out Thank You.

That is great, i wonder if gm made the fixed any of the problem with the 97' and made it better so it would not have to go through so many head gaskets?

no the problem carried over to the 3400's so all you people check the intake gaskets frequently its beacuse of the steep angle of the intake manifold and the way the heating cooling of the engine works against it... it seems to be about a 65,000 mile part almost right on scheduel you will see the side of your engine getting wet...thats what it is....i cant stress enough check your oil up to a light and look for fine orange bubbles(or the color of your coolant)

pretty much but you have to flush it good first but the intake gaskets will still go its a poor engine design... runs good but that is its flaw

Ya it is sad to say maybe ill can get lucky and that will not happen... i have looked around the engine inside in out and have not seen to many leaks ... hey i no this is off the subject but what is a good way to make that intake shine?? sorry to be so off topic ..

well they all seem to do it, 3100 and 3400's as for the intake, do you mean the plenum that says 3100 on it. well its like a satin metal so you cant polish it. you would have to actually grind it enough to make it smooth. i pollished up the lines that were on mine and the 3100 with a dremel and the right bit then took metal polish to it
