If my car hasnt been running for a while itll take forever to start it back up, seems like im lucky the car starts up. But if the engine is still warm itll start right up and run with no problem. My car throws up the OBD codes: Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient, Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit range/performance, Evaporative emission control system valve/solenoid circuit, Evaporative emissions control system control circuit. 2001 Monte Carlo SS. Need help, only car i have for work

 

Seems like u have a bad egr valve. Or something around that area. Do you know where it is? Its pretty easy to replace

 

I think Owens nailed it on the head with his diagnosis. I recommend going to your local wrecker and get a used one, this will save you some money, I replaced mine at the end of last summer with a used one and haven't had any issues. If I remember correctly it is only 2 bolts holding it in, and you may want to grab a new gasket, might not need it but just in case. It is a 10 minute job, taking the used one off and putting it on your car, then run it until the computer does it's cycle and the check engine light should go out. And then if the problem is fixed, you can purchase a new one, but it saves you from spending the money on a new one when you can get a used one for prob $20 just for testing purposes.

Also check the hoses in around the intake for any cracks or poor seating, as they do get brittle over time which may also be causing the problem

 

It could be the valve itself, but since it indicates insufficient flow I'd check for an obstruction (carbon build up) in the EGR pipe or adapter tube before replacing the valve.

 

Thanks for the reply, about where is the egr valve. It doesnt have tamper screws like the maf sensor right?

 

The hoses are fine and the vacuum psi is running decent n smooth

It is located on the drivers side of the motor near the firewall. You will have to pull the 3800 cover off and it is behind the intake. You will see the black plastic top and there are two bolts connecting it (10mm I think but it has been a while) it is just above the rear valve cover. There is a connector to the top of the EGR valve. A can of Seafoam cleaner spray may free everything up for you, so as suggested by Mike (03SSle) it may be a worthwhile investment to pick up a can of it and run it through prior to replacing. A can of Seafoam is about $10 so even cheaper if it works, and if not it doesn't hurt to have it on hand regardless. I will see if I can find the link to how to seafoam your engine on here and post it for you.

I'd check fuel pressure also, but an EGR failure/clog could do it too.
