I was thinking about wing doors for my monte, i thought it would be a very practical solution to the very obviouse problem of having doors so large, i was bull****ing about it with my brother in law, and he thinks they're to heavy, but i believe it can be done, has anyone done it around here? an what did it run ya, or what would you think it'd cost?

Are you talking vertical doors or gull wing doors?

 

gull, are those like the ones on the back to the future car? lol tht would be sweet! but probobly alllot more modding, i'm talking about lambo style, or "vertical doors" they're aslo called VDI doors from what i'm reading.

god the idea of these doors is just awsome! lol it appears the gullwing's are the more pracical option. for space and ease of getting in and out. the gullwing kits seem cheaper too.

from that site he linked, i also found it on google a bit ago and was thinking that's not a bad beat for what it is. the lambo kits aren't even breaking below 1000, so 599$ with 75$ shipping aint bad, but will this kit truly fit is my only concearn and how much drilling and modding is really need, your just putting a new hindge on basicly and maybe a longer ruber gasket for the wire harness.

 

There is not enough of a structure around the windows to support these big heavy doors enough to make them gull wing doors. You would have to reinforce the frame around the windows or the first time you opened the doors, it would bend the frame and break the glass. How are your metal fabrication skills?

 

you mean mounting them from the roof? i'd like to mount them on the A piller frame, would that have enough strcture?

 

No I mean the structure around the window on the door wont be strong enough the hold the door in the air without bending.

I may be confused, are you talking about the lambo doors or the gull wing doors. I am talking about if you did gull wing doors.

 

i am talking about gull, and i dont understand but ima have to take your word on that for now till i find out more about it. :-\ anybody on this site done any door swing mods?
