Default What the hell is going on??

My 2002 monte carlo wont start. When i turn the key i lose my digital shift display (automatic) then when then key springs back to the on positon it resets. My shift display also says its in 1st or Low gear and it rolls in any gear just like it was in netural but the key cant be removed unless in "park"

What iv tried:
Replaced lock cyclinder
Replaced Starter (knew it was bad from beginning)
Cleaned and made sure battery terminals are tight
Checked fuses

Sounds like the battery doesn't have enough power to start the car. How old is it? Have you tried jumping it? checking the voltage?

Might want to inspect your battery cables. If they are corroding, they will not be capable of passing enough electricity. Some people have noticed cables "bulging" due to internal corrosion.

did you check the ground coming off the battery? make sure it has good contact with the frame.

also you may want to check your Park/neutral Position Switch http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...itch/_/N-9rihm

it can cause your starter's relay to not engage

You may have a bad Ignition module. The dash display blinking out is normal when you start the car. If your battery and all connections are good, and your lights work, then I would have the ignoring module checked. When it goes bad together get everything except Crank. No starter relay click either!
