Hello. I have a 98 MC 3.1L, 130000 mi and I have A steady blinking security light and no crank symptoms. I ruled out the key resistance, (#2) key resister nominal 525 ohms, but have yet to bench test the theft deterrent module relay. I removed the instrument panel compartment door and could not find the module or the relay according to the position drawn in my factory manual. I also noted some suspicious looking electrical tape jobs from the previous owner. Maybe it has been hacked, I don't know yet.

I am asking if anyone can point me to some decent images of the location of that module. I can troubleshoot further from there and post back my progress.

The VATS module was in the location I was looking at earlier. I found it only by feel, because it is mounted out of view. It is mounted to a steel bracket which is attached to the cross beam support.


The relay checked good, so I wired in an aftermarket bypass, and my problem is in the past.
