Turn Signal switch on 1997 Monte Carlo

I just bought a 1997 Monte and when I turn the left turn signal on it flashes real fast and does not cancel out after a turn.If I pull back on it real easy it flashes normal but still does not cancel out. When I hit the brakes with the left signal on the only brake light that works is the third brake light.Any ideas on what the problem is. Thanks for any help. Kevin

RE: Turn Signal switch on 1997 Monte Carlo

these gen cars have a re-occuring prob with the turnsignal. it is very commen. your turn signal switch is bad. your 3rd brake like is a on a seprate circut to the main brake lights... that is why it still works. you will need to replace the turnsignal switch. should have been a recall. but never happend.
