Default Turn signal issue

Happy Easter!

I could use some help and would like to present my finding for some of you guys to help me with. So off the top I'd like to say that when it is daylight there is absolutely no issue with my flashers. Turn signals work as they should. Problems begin when the sensors detect it is night (or when I turn the parking lamps on; I've been using this as a way to diagnose it during daylight.)

The right turn signal is permanently on. As in illuminated on the dash but not blinking (solid green). The lights on the outside are solid and illuminated as well also not blinking. If you were to turn the left turn signal on the right will stay permanently illuminated and the left will flash as it should.

If you turn the car off and activate the hazard switch they will flash appropriately. If the car is on and it thinks it is night both left and right lights will remain illuminated (solid green on dash, no blinking on inside or outside lights.)

I've pulled all the bulbs from the parking lamps on the right side of the car and they all look good. If you activate parking lamps at this point the right turn signal is illuminated on the dash as previously described.

I'm at a loss. I'm convinced it is a relay. But certainly can't be the flasher relay since it works in daylight. Something is mucking it up in the transition of Daytime running lights to Night time running lights. The sockets all look clean and so do the bulbs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just pulled the parking lamp relay on passenger side fuse panel. Problem still persists after swapping with different relay. I have decided to leave the parking lamp relay disconnected. Turn signals now work correctly in both DRL and parking lamp settings. Should be fine during night time driving as well. I just will be operating without parking lamp option. Which is a fair trade to not getting rear ended. I'm going to opt to drive like this until another problem presents itself.

Thank you for reading. Any suggestions you all have is still appreciated. Maybe this will help somebody some day.

Sounds like you have a short in your system. Sorry I mean Open, Either way you need to check your system and make sure that you are getting ground at all your lamps. This can be hard to tell because some cars work off the Ground side of the system. While others are different.

What year is your car.

It does sound like an issue in the wiring. So when you turn on your system the 12v is looking to go to ground and maybe one of the reason that your lights on the dash stay on because that is where the other lights are finding ground.

So on my 02 SS, I can look over my system and say what is it going to be front or back. Take out the Fuse for the Front and if I have same issue then put that on back in and take the fuse out for the back try again if same issue then there is a problem with both. However I would almost say the issue would be with your front part of your car. Unless you have had an issue with being hit from behind.

Both front and both rear share not only have there own Fuse they also share a ground each. So if missing a ground it will try and take a ground from the Blinkers side of the system because they are going to be missing the ground as well so that leaves the Lights in the dash and or the ground in the Hazard switch. That is a Logic system not a flasher like old type. It has power and ground going into the switch for blinker and for hazards.

Now if your car is older or newer it would have a different system so older or newer then 00-05

Have you tried wearing a garlic necklace while driving?

The car is a 2001 LS. I did pull fuses to both front and rear parking lamps. Which disabled exterior lights however left the dashboard right turn signal still on. (Also the case while removing bulbs.)

Only by removing the Parking Lamp Relay (which doesn't appear to be bad) have I been able to resolve the issue.

The car hasn't been in an accident. Just needs garlic.

Replace the "turn signal flasher relay" only. Replace the turn signal bulb in question with a fresh one making sure it is the correct number. Make sure no one has tampered with the four legs at the base of the bulb. There are two different types of sockets and only type of bulb that will work. It is possible the bulb in question is the wrong type. Go to this link and read. It will explain.

I'm sure one of these reasons is why you are having this problem.
