trouble with fuel system
 
have a 2003 monte carlo ss it will start and run fine then shortly afterwards it will shut down like it is not getting fuel let it set 4 or 5 hours it will start and do the same thing any ideas

Sounds like either a clogged fuel filter, or more likely, the fuel pump. If you have access to a fuel pressure gauge, connect it to the Schrader valve on the front side of the fuel rail. With the key on the "On" position the pressure should be around 55 psi. Then start the engine, pressure should only vary 1-2 psi regardless of RPM's.

Thanks that is what I thought my next question is where would the fuel filter be located

Filter is just behind and under the driver side door along the frame rail. Has quick connects. Be careful if you see rust/corrosion around the connections.

Could be a crank sensor or ICM failing also
