Default Trailer Hitch for Monte Carlo

I recently researched buying a trailer hitch for my Monte Carlo. I found a nice hitch that would attach to the frame. I then researched the wire adapters for the trailer's "brake and signal" lights. There is no adapter available for this car. It looks like I will have to "hard wire" a generic adapter. Has anyone dealt with trailer hitches and the electrical connectors for a Monte Carlo?

I've never seen a hitch on one, it's not recommended, and with the transmissions as weak as they are, to me, you're asking for problems.

I know there is a wire kit available for the impala.. you remove the rear light and it plugs in between the light and the OEM harness. Might be interesting to see if it fits..

Actually... What year Monte??

I agree and don't recommend towing, however if you do, remember not to keep the car in overdrive.

Thanks. I am planning to tow a light load. Trailer and motorcycle only. If it is recommended not to tow, I will avoid it. The Impala requires actually splicing into the wires. I assume the Monte is the same way. Thanks for the advice.

I once had a 1994 Olds 98 that was used to tow a golf cart by the previous owner. After I bought it, I towed my motorcycle and gear to and from the track. It can be done, just don't get too carried away.

I would not recommend it either. Mainly because it looks like crap and cars are not meant to tow.

That is one downfall of these cars,,, they are so fragile. I always feel like something is going break.
