torque specs
anyone have the torque specs for the upper and lower intake and also the valve covers please. I'm fixin to tear into this soon I wanna be ready.
thanks in advance. does the Haynes repair manual have this info? if so ill buy one ,
should i put Loctite blue on the lower intake bolts? I hear they will seep without sealant of some type. ??
I bought the felpro gasket set and the metal coolant elbows I also got the improved upper intake. with the felpro gaskets as well. I want to get this done right . I'm a pretty good wrench but any tips are welcome.
ive watched a number of youtube vids doesn't look very difficult to me. I figure it would be a good time to change out the valve cover gaskets while I have it all apart anyhoo....they are seeping a little bit.

What year and what engine do you have?
I just checked my Haynes manual and there ARE torque specs in it.
3.1L & 3.4L OHV are on pages 2A-1 &2A-2
3.4L DOHC are on pages 2B-1 &2
3.8 specs are on pages 2C-1&2

I updated my previous post to include the page numbers. So it will be easy to find once you get a Haynes manual.

Not a problem. Let us know how it all goes. Take pics and post them if you can. It might help someone else needing to do the same thing.

I replaced mine awhile back but have a 3400. I bought new bolts and they came with threadlock already applied. I also used a tap (gently) to clean out anything from previously botched job the shop did that didn't last 10K miles. I wanted everything clean to get the proper torque. I assume you have a good inch-pound torque wrench? My two sets of bolts only needed either 89 or 115 inch-pounds if I remember correctly. I know you have the 3800 but I think all of this would still apply. Also, consider fuel injector O-rings if the rails get pulled. Good luck with the repair, on the 3400 none of the steps were that difficult just that there were a lot of them.

Thanks for the tips Jim, yes I have a nice Tekton torque wrench. my GF bought me a set of them for xmas last year, one for inch pounds the other for foot, I figure I can do it myself. if anything goes wrong I only have myself to blame....however I'm confident I can do this and do it right. I have the time . and yes ill do the o- rings too. my car has never been done. as I can see the black of the nylon gaskets and I don't see any tool marks. I'm doing this for preventative measure....I don't see any coolant loss and the oil is very clean. ive allways been sorta **** when it comes to maintenance lol. the car has 105k miles so its on borrowed time I think for the intake fix. I don't wanna worry about it.
Ill take some pix
P343 and ill let yuz know how it goes and maybe ill find a trick or 2
that make things easier.....im good at that. sometimes HAAA
